The Hunter design team's Hunter 310 goal was to combine maximum livability with rewarding short-handed performance with privacy another priority. Above deck the boat is very comfortable with a circular cockpit. The molded in steering pedestal with table creates more cockpit space and safety. The steering is rack and pinion which is considered stronger than the conventional cables and quadrant arrangement. The arch clears the mainsheet out of the cockpit and contains the traveler controls. Hunter likes to keep the fun in sailing without complexity. The B&R deck-stepped rig, has a fractional sail plan for ease of sail handling and yet accommodating larger roaches in full-battened mainsails and is considered one of the strongest rigs out there. Down below there are double berths fore and aft with a large, comfortable cabin in between. The headroom is 6'4". Engine access is excellent. The forward berth has a hanging locker. Aft of that in the main salon, there are port and starboard settees. In the aft cabin there is a large thwart berth generous for two. There's storage beneath all berths. With the forward attitude of the main salon, that leaves room for a private head with solid door enclosure to port and a large U-Shaped galley to starboard. Stowage for dishware is useful and efficient. Light from the windows and hull ports make the interior exceptionally bright. The comforts that make a boat a home have been attended to.

The Biggest Pros and Cons
The 1998 Hunter 310 is a popular choice among cruising sailors and offers a range of features that appeal to both beginners and experienced boaters. Here are some of the key pros and cons of this model:
Pros
Spacious Interior: For a 31-foot boat, the Hunter 310 provides a surprisingly roomy cabin with comfortable sleeping accommodations, a functional galley, and ample storage.
Easy Handling: The boat’s sloop rig and well-designed sail plan make it manageable for short-handed sailing, ideal for weekend cruising or coastal passages.
Performance: While not a racer, the Hunter 310 offers respectable sailing performance with good stability and decent speed in moderate conditions.
Modern Design: Features like the walk-through transom and cockpit layout enhance safety and convenience.
Affordability: Being a used boat from the late 1990s, the Hunter 310 is typically more budget-friendly compared to newer models with similar features.
Cons
Build Quality: Some owners note that the construction materials and fittings are not as robust as those found in higher-end sailboats, which may require ongoing maintenance.
Limited Headroom: Although the interior is spacious, the cabin headroom is somewhat limited, which can be less comfortable for taller individuals.
Age-Related Wear: As a boat from 1998, potential buyers should be mindful of age-related issues such as rigging condition, engine wear, and outdated electronics.
Performance Limitations: While adequate for cruising, the Hunter 310 is not designed for competitive sailing and may struggle in heavy weather or open ocean conditions.
Resale Value: Due to its age and market competition, the resale value may not be as high compared to more modern or premium models.
