Built by Pearson Yachts and designed by William Shaw, the Pearson 323 was created to be an honest cruising boat designed to go fast in comfort. Her sharp entry, long waterline, lovely sheer and vertical transom makes her look sleek and powerful yet not losing her traditional profile. Much of the boat has a teak interior with a fiberglass pan and overhead liner. The pan creates the layout for settees, lockers, etc. it also adds structural advantages. The overhead liner is a laminate secured with teak battens, all of which are removable. The lead ballast is all internal. No keel bolts. The rudder has a skeg for extra protection. The Volvo Penta diesel was offered as an upgrade over the Universal Atomic 4. The rig is masthead. The deck is relatively clear of obstructions and easy to move about on. The self-bailing cockpit is over 7' long and has seats with rounded corners. There's also a substantial bridge deck for safety. Seat lockers offer access to the inboard, water heater, batteries and fuel tank. Aft is a LPG locker. The forepeak cabin is quite large with an insert for more sleeping surface and sports a custom V-berth mattress. A sliding door separates the forward cabin from the head area. The dinette table in the main salon lowers to create a double berth on the starboard side and a single settee is on the port side. Total berths are four with new foam inserts. There's storage provided behind both settees and on shelves and cupboards above. A nav station is on one side and the L-shaped galley on the other. The current owner is moving out of state, selling house and boat. Owner said it is an easy boat to handle solo. Anchoring is a breeze with the remote windlass control. She's clean and tidy (bilge, engine, etc.) and dry down below. The owner remarks that the boat is in above average condition with above average care and well equipped with gear. Regular annual systems maintenance apply.
