Regarded by many as one of the finest West Coast cruising yachts ever produced, the Tollycraft 48 Motor Yacht (often called the 48 Cockpit MY) combines classic Tollycraft styling and quality in a yacht of exceptional functionality. First introduced in 1976, the popularity of this yacht was such that a total of 80 were built before she was retired from the fleet in 1986. Demand continued, however, and in 1991 production was resumed with another 25 produced before the last hull was delivered in 1998.
Built on a solid fiberglass, semi-displacement hull designed by renowned naval architect Ed Monk, Sr. with rounded chines and a long, deep keel to protect the running gear, the Tollycraft 48 is well known for her superb seakeeping attributes. Underway, you'll appreciate how well this vessel meets the three basic needs of a yachting family: comfortable/live-aboard level accommodations, good operational performance, and seaworthiness.
This lovingly-maintained and updated two-stateroom, galley-down floorplan motor yacht comes with an updated lower helm, full-height port and starboard deck doors in the salon, boat deck access from the main salon, and fully-equipped flybridge. All cabins have electric heaters, and each has CruisAir reverse-cycle heat pumps that can provide both heat and air-conditioning. In addition, the cabins are equipped with a Webasto diesel furnace and EverHot hydronic heating system, providing both cabin heat and hot water (hot water can also be heated by the engine's cooling system when underway).
Exterior features include a large cockpit with transom door, full walk-around side decks with protective teak rails on stainless steel stanchions, radar arch, and swim platform. The aft cabin top is designed for dinghy storage, and the vessel comes equipped with an 9' Boston Whaler Tender, and a nearly-new tiller-operated 9.9HP Mercury 4-stroke outboard. Her twin, low-boost Cat 3208T diesels cruise efficiently at 10 knots, with a fuel consumption of 6 gals an hour at that speed.
The Tolly 48' Cockpit Motor Yacht was designed by R. M. "Tolly" Tollefson, and was hand-built by American craftsman at the Tollycraft plant in Kelso, WA USA. Of all the models in the Tollycraft line-up, "Tolly" chose the 48 as his personal yacht. Used Tollycraft 48s are always in demand, and this 48 is one of the finest you'll find plying the waters of the Salish Sea.
