1988 TOLLYCRAFT 44 COCKPIT MOTOR YACHT - BLEU FISH

BLEU FISH is a well-cared-for example of the Ed Monk-designed Tollycraft 44 Cockpit Motor Yacht, a proven Pacific Northwest cruising design offering comfortable accommodations, excellent visibility, practical deck spaces and the warm handcrafted teak interior for which Tollycraft is known.

Having reportedly had only two to three owners during her lifetime, BLEU FISH reflects a history of attentive ownership and care. She is extensively equipped for Northwest cruising with diesel heat, generator, inverter/charger, bow thruster, watermaker, upper and lower helm stations, Garmin navigation and autopilot, SeaWise tender system and an Achilles hard-bottom tender with a nearly new Tohatsu 15 HP outboard.

Her two-stateroom layout provides excellent separation for owners and guests. The full-beam aft owner's stateroom features an island queen berth and private ensuite head with separate stall shower. Forward is a large V-berth with filler and a second ensuite head and shower.

The bright salon features handcrafted teak cabinetry, large opening windows, newer furniture and direct access to the protected aft deck. The mezzanine-style galley is only a few steps below the salon, allowing the cook to remain part of the conversation while providing excellent food preparation and storage space. Across from the galley, the face-to-face dinette converts to an additional double berth.

BLEU FISH's cockpit, transom door and swim platform provide convenient water-level access for tender handling, fishing, crabbing, carrying bicycles and cruising gear, or simply getting people and pets aboard. Wide side decks and substantial stainless-steel railings make movement around the boat comfortable and secure.

Upper and lower helm stations provide the choice of open-air cruising or a protected operating position when Northwest weather arrives. The lower helm's sliding side door provides immediate deck access, while the SidePower bow thruster assists with close-quarters maneuvering.

DETROIT 8.2 DIESELS

BLEU FISH is powered by twin Detroit Diesel 8.2L 250 HP engines with approximately 2,975 hours, coupled to Twin Disc MG502-1 transmissions.

The Detroit 8.2 has developed a mixed reputation over the years, much of it originating from applications and operating conditions very different from those typically experienced aboard a Pacific Northwest cruising yacht.

In the cooler waters of the Pacific Northwest, cruising boats generally operate for extended periods at relatively consistent, moderate RPM. Properly maintained 8.2s operating in this environment can provide long service lives, very good fuel economy and relatively straightforward maintenance.

Rather than relying solely on the reputation attached to the engine model, buyers should evaluate the condition, maintenance history and performance of the engines installed aboard this particular boat.

BLEU FISH's machinery spaces reflect the level of care evident throughout the vessel. Documented maintenance and equipment include serviced engine heat exchangers, replacement transmission coolers, replacement cutlass bearings, Racor 1000FG fuel/water filtration, AirSep engine filters, replacement alternators, a replacement starboard raw-water pump and a Reverso oil-change system.

A competent diesel mechanical survey and appropriate operational testing can provide a prospective buyer with meaningful information regarding the engines' present condition and expected remaining service life.
