Designed and Built in the PNW

Meridian was a Brunswick Boat Group brand, and this generation of 411 was built in Arlington, Washington. The design reflects a very practical Northwest approach to cruising: lots of protected living space, large windows, good storage, easy movement around the boat and outdoor areas that remain genuinely useful rather than decorative.

You'll notice the beam - the 411 feels substantially larger aboard than the model number suggests. The salon, galley and dinette are arranged as one connected living space, while the accommodations are separated below for privacy. Above, the flybridge is large enough to function as a second outdoor living area rather than simply a helm station.

Molded stairs instead of a ladder, broad side decks, twin engines and bow and stern thrusters all make the boat easier to live with. For guests, the second private stateroom and second head make extended weekends or longer cruises far more comfortable than on many smaller cruisers.

Walk Through

Boarding is from the swim platform into a generous cockpit. The cockpit provides an excellent transition between the dock and interior and has room for cruising gear, chairs or simply sitting outside at anchor. From here, molded steps lead to the flybridge while the side decks provide access forward.

A sliding glass door opens directly into the salon.

Salon

The salon is one of the 411’s strongest features. Large surrounding windows bring in considerable natural light and provide the open feel that made the Meridian sedan series so popular. Comfortable seating creates a legitimate living room rather than a passageway between the cockpit and helm.

The open arrangement keeps the salon, galley and dinette connected, making the boat work equally well for a cruising couple or a larger group aboard for the day.

Galley & Dinette

Forward in the salon is a proper cruising galley with substantial counter space and storage. The 411 was designed with the galley as part of the main living area rather than burying it belowdecks.

Across from the galley is the raised dinette, providing a comfortable place for meals, working aboard or enjoying the view underway. The dinette can also provide additional sleeping capacity when needed.

Forward Owner’s Stateroom

The primary stateroom is forward and centered around a walk-around queen berth. Storage is provided through hanging lockers, drawers and cabinetry, making this a realistic cabin for extended cruising rather than just occasional overnight use.

The owner’s cabin has direct access to its own head with a separate shower stall.

Guest Stateroom

The second private stateroom is amidships and makes excellent use of the 411’s beam. It provides a substantial berth, storage and privacy for another couple or family members.

Having a true second cabin—and a second head—is one of the differences between the 411 and smaller cruisers that technically “sleep six” but require converting the main salon every night.

Flybridge

Molded stairs from the cockpit lead to one of the defining spaces aboard the 411: the flybridge.

There is considerably more room here than simply the helm and a companion seat. The bridge provides multiple seating areas, a wet bar and space for guests to join the operator underway. BARBARRICK also has a full canvas/eisenglass enclosure, greatly extending the season in the Northwest.

Visibility from the helm is excellent, while the bow and stern thruster controls provide an important advantage when maneuvering this much boat from the upper station.

Navigation equipment includes a large Raymarine multifunction display and autopilot.

Deck & Cockpit

From the cockpit, the 411’s comparatively broad side decks lead forward without requiring passengers to climb across the cabin structure.

The foredeck provides working space around the anchoring system as well as an additional outdoor area at anchor. The large swim platform makes boarding, swimming, tender access and dock handling easier.

The overall deck arrangement is a good example of why the 411 has remained popular: the boat gives its interior a lot of volume without sacrificing reasonable movement around the exterior.

For someone accustomed to a smaller pocket cruiser, the additional displacement and beam are noticeable—but the transition is made much easier by the twin engines and independent bow and stern thrusters. The result is a boat that offers a major increase in cruising accommodations without necessarily requiring a major increase in docking anxiety.

Pride of Ownership: Recent Maintenance

A substantial amount of work has been completed during 2025 and 2026, with invoices available for review.

2026 — Structural/Core Remediation

Seaview Boatyard completed an extensive professionally invoiced repair program addressing moisture-affected core in several areas of the boat.

Work included:

  • Removed wet core from the lazarette bulkhead
  • Removed and reinstalled the water tank, batteries, inverter and other equipment as required for access
  • Installed Coosa board and fiberglassed/coated repaired areas
  • Removed and replaced wet core at the port inboard stringer beneath the generator
  • Removed and replaced wet core and repaired the forward bulkhead below the stairs
  • Repaired deteriorated material below the batteries
  • Addressed soft core at the thruster bulkhead
  • Reinstalled affected equipment and completed finish work

This is significant work on an older cruising yacht and an important part of BARBARRICK’s story: known moisture-related areas were opened up and professionally addressed rather than covered over or deferred.

2026 — Engines & Generator

Nordic Engine Works performed service and troubleshooting on the main engines and Onan generator, including:

  • Main-engine oil and filters
  • Transmission/gear oil and filters
  • Generator oil/filter service
  • Main-engine zinc replacement
  • Repair of preheat-system wiring
  • Replacement of preheat relays
  • Replacement of a defective grid/air heater
  • Dockside test run and general inspection

2026 — Heating & Air Conditioning

Hooker Marine performed HVAC work aboard the boat. The invoice and accompanying service notation indicate replacement of two heat/air-conditioning units along with associated ducting, seawater hose, fittings and installation materials.

2026 — Window Sealing

Quality Glass removed exterior window seals, cleaned and chemically prepared the bonding surfaces and installed new secondary sealing on three window assemblies.

2025 — Bottom & Running Gear

During the May 2025 haul-out, Seaview Boatyard performed extensive below-the-waterline maintenance:

  • Two-coat bottom-paint application
  • Seahawk Cukote bottom paint
  • Struts and rudders stripped, primed and bottom painted
  • PropSpeed applied to propellers, shafts and trim tabs
  • Anodes replaced
  • Port and starboard PSS shaft seals replaced
Final Thoughts

BARBARRICK adds several things that matter when comparing comparable vessels: low reported engine hours, the higher-output Cummins diesel package, bow and stern thrusters, an enclosed bridge and a substantial recent maintenance history.

For a buyer coming from a pocket cruiser, the 411 is a meaningful step up—two real staterooms, two heads, considerably more tankage and storage, a separate flybridge living area and much greater range of use—while the twin engines and bow and stern thrusters keep close-quarters operation approachable.

Recent work has addressed a number of the expensive items that buyers of an older cruising yacht should be asking about before purchase, and supporting invoices are available for review.
