Not many boats provide as much comfort for extended cruising as the Irwin 43. A big wide, light-filled salon, combined with a long and deep center cockpit all but guarantee "4 seasons" liveability. Add a centerline Queen in the aft stateroom, a well laid-out galley with more than adequate refrigeration and separate deep freezer, and two head compartments, and you've got the makings of a year-round address. STARGAZER II's owners have cruised her as far north as Maine, and as far south as the Bahamas. For more than a decade, they've spent their winters on her in warmer climes, then stored her the rest of the year out of the water, on land. Her hull is still shiny, having been Awlgripped in 2002 and waxed regularly, and her canvas is in "hardly used" condition, including the eisenglass. Thanks to a barrier coat, there's not a hull blister to be found below the waterline. All in all, anyone seriously contemplating an Irwin 43 would do well to check out STARGAZER II.

Cons

Heavier Displacement: The boat’s heavier build can result in slower speeds compared to lighter, more performance-oriented cruisers.

Outdated Design Elements: Being a 1986 model, some design features and onboard systems may feel dated and could require upgrades to meet modern standards.

Sail Handling: The rigging and sail plan may be less efficient or more labor-intensive than contemporary designs, potentially requiring a larger crew for optimal handling.

Maintenance Needs: Older boats like the Irwin 43 Mark II often need ongoing maintenance and occasional refits, especially to electrical and plumbing systems.

Limited Maneuverability: Due to its size and weight, maneuvering in tight marina spaces might be challenging without experienced handling or additional equipment like bow thrusters.
