1993 Catalina 42 Mk I
This is a great boat in Phenomenal Shape. Fitted out for cruising with many upgrades by meticulous and knowledgeable owners. Sought after 2 cabin / 2 head layout with pullman berth forward, and L shaped galley. (Better functionality and room in the salon than long galley). Her heavy rigging, cockpit reefing system, seakindly hull form and solid construction, make her a capable offshore cruiser, while her 5' shoal keel make her ideal for the shallow waters of the Keys or the Bahamas.
The current owners' have paid exceptional attention to detail and it is evident in her well kept appearance and updated systems.
On deck-
The boat's topsides are shiny and bright, no chalking at all. All wood accents have been maintained and look very nice. Bimini and dodger with connecting piece provide a light, airy cockpit with plenty of shade at anchor. Side decks are wide and handholds are abundant for going forward. Lewmar 52 winches ease sailhandling. Standing and running rigging are in very good shape (New 2008), no burs or rust evident on the standing rigging, the running rigging is not chaffed or stiff. All portlights are clear there is no evidence of any leaking. The mast boot is in good shape and no leaks. The selden mast is equipped with bearing cars for the main and the Doyle main (New 2008) is in very good shape with plenty of crinkle in the sail, 2 reef points led aft to the cockpit, lazy jacks, and stacking Doyle cover (New 2008). The Doyle furling genoa (New 2008) is in very good shape with new sunbrella sun strip and mounted on a Furlex furler. All deck hardware is in very nice shape. Stantions and lifelines are in very nice condition. Ample anchor locker with nylon and chain rode for the fortress and rocna anchors, and electric windlass.
Twin 130W solar panels are mounted to a Kato davit system with additional bracing to transom and stern pulpit. The 8ft hypalon Apex inflatable is easily secured with 15hp Evinrude motor remaining in place for off shore transit. The walkthrough transom and swim platform make boarding dinghy or going for a swim equally simple. Separate shower in transom for rinsing off after a swim or a warm shower in a secluded anchorage.
Below-
The boat is extremely nice and tidy below. There is a head with shower in the forepeak, main cabin with pullman berth aft of that, then the salon with nav center, bench seat to starboard and large dinnette to port (that makes into large bunk), followed by the L-shaped galley to port, and second head to starboard leading to the guest stateroom. All interior wood trim is in great shape, the sole is very nice, and all cushions, bunks are in great shape. The sanitation hoses have been replaced, and all equipment is functional and in good repair. Top loading refrigerator/freezer has been rebuilt with an extra 3 inches of insulation that allows the solar panels to maintain refrigeration, lights, and stereo while at anchor. Aft Toilet has y-valve overboard option, both toilets have holding tanks w/macerators. This boat is equipped for traveling anywhere in the Caribbean and living comfortably at anchor "off the grid".
