This Catalina 38 "Flying Goose" is a recreational shole draft keel boat. Built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a masthead sloop rig with aluminum spars, a raked stem, a raised counter reverse transom, an internally mounted spade-type rudder controlled by a wheel. The walk through on this boat is representative of its time and its heritage. Aft of the anchor locker is a comfortable vee berth followed by a head and shower combination to port with a hanging locker to starboard. The salon follows with a U-shaped settee to port and a straight settee to starboard. The nav station is just forward of the quarter berth (which forms the nav seat) on starboard. At a stretch, the boat can sleep 7. Teak trim and veneer are used for doors, drawer facings and bulkheads. There is an anchor locker in the forepeak. The halyards are hoisted by two winches on the cabin roof. There is a mainsheet traveler also mounted on the cabin roof. The genoa has sheet tracks on the bulwarks and primary winches in the cockpit.
