"Sajudis" is a classic Beneteau First 435 designed by the legendary German Frers. She has been cruised all over the world by her current owner, who has had her for twenty years, in places like Tahiti (1995), Thailand (2001), Turkey (2005), Trinidad (2007), and back to the Puget Sound for local boating since.
Her interior layout is designed for comfortable cruising (also excellent for liveaboards), with plenty of seating in a nice appointed salon, a generous galley and added storage by the owner. Each of the cabins have their own heads. There are three diesel heating outlets--salon, and the cabins.
On the exterior, she boasts wide side decks, a cockpit with dodger and bimini that feels safe, with teak in the cockpit (none forward). A functional cockpit has lines led aft, access to two autopilot controls, 7 winches to run multiple head sails and the mainsheet, and an adjustable backstay. She comes with heavy-duty ground tackle (60Lb CQR, 230 Feet of chain and stern anchor).
The First series by Beneteau is their racer-cruiser line, designed for off-shore use and speed while maintaining the comfort of a cruiser, as her vast interior reflects.
Some of her extensive inventory include:
- 2 Cabins and 2 Heads Layout,
- Espar Diesel Heat with three outlets,
- 50 HP Perkins with Dripless Shaft Seal.
- Radar Arch with Solar Panel and Furuno Radar,
- Autohelm 7000 Autopilot and Windvane Steering,
- 19 Inch Maxprop Feathering Prop,
- Inverter/Charger, Isolation Transformer, Large Battery Bank,
- Boat designed and upgraded by owner for offshore use.
"The First 435 is made for true sailors, for those who want to go far and in peace, without fearing extreme weather. Perfect lines and vast sail area make for a racing yacht performance, but she also has all the best qualities of a real cruiser: tough, powerful, easy to handle, she is extremely secure and life on board is wonderful." - Beneteau

The Biggest Pros and Cons
The Beneteau First 435, launched in 1985, is a popular cruising sailboat known for its combination of performance, comfort, and classic design. Here’s a look at some of the pros and cons of this vessel:
Pros
Performance: The First 435 is recognized for its excellent sailing performance, featuring a fin keel and a balanced rudder that allow for responsive handling and good speed, making it suitable for both cruising and racing.
Spacious Interior: This model offers a roomy interior layout, with a generous cockpit and ample headroom, making it comfortable for extended cruising. The design typically includes a large saloon, well-equipped galley, and multiple sleeping quarters.
Quality Build: Beneteau is known for its solid construction, and the First 435 is no exception. With a fiberglass hull and robust deck hardware, it provides durability and longevity.
Versatile: The First 435 features a versatile layout, accommodating both families and groups of friends, making it adaptable for various sailing adventures, from weekend getaways to long-distance passages.
Classic Design: The timeless aesthetic of the Beneteau First 435 appeals to many sailors who appreciate a traditional yet modern sailboat look, complementing a variety of marinas.
Cons
Age Considerations: Being a model from 1985, potential buyers should consider the age of the boat, as systems and materials may require refurbishment or replacement due to wear.
Maintenance: Older vessels can require more maintenance, especially if previous owners haven't kept up with servicing or updates. Prospective buyers should be prepared for potential repair work.
Limited Technology: The original electronics and navigation equipment may be outdated. Upgrading these systems can be a significant additional cost for buyers looking for modern conveniences.
Draft: With a fin keel design, the draft might be deeper than some recreational sailors desire, limiting the boat's accessibility to shallow harbors or anchorage.
Resale Value: The resale market for older boats can be unpredictable, and while the First 435 holds some value due to its reputation, potential depreciation should be considered.
