Boat Features

MasterCraft wakeboard boats are inboard tow boats built for wakeboarding, wake surfing and foiling, with the current lineup running from the X24 up through the larger X26 and the recently redesigned X-Star. The 2026 X24 measures 24 feet 3 inches long, is 102 inches wide, weighs roughly 7,200 pounds, and seats up to 17 people. It carries 85 gallons of fuel and 4,300 pounds of ballast, which the fast-fill pumps top off in about seven or eight minutes. The boat suits a wide range of riders, sizing a wakeboard wake up or flattening it down so a ten-year-old learning to clear the wake and an advanced rider sending inverts can share the same afternoon.

Performance on the X24 comes from a choice of two engines, a 6.2-liter or a supercharged 6.2-liter. A typical wakeboard setup runs the rope out to 60 to 75 feet with the boat around 19 to 22 mph; lower-risk sessions drop to about 19 mph at 60 feet with zero ballast, while a fuller, snappier wake comes at 50 percent ballast, a 65-foot rope and roughly 20.5 mph. A center tab adjusts wake shape in increments, flattening the takeoff at 30, 50 or 70 percent so beginners aren't fighting a steep knuckle. The surf wave shapes across settings numbered 1 through 7, with 1 producing a long, mellow face ideal for foiling and 7 standing up a tall barrel, and the boat changes speed automatically as you move through the range.

The X-Star is in its sixth generation and is offered in 23T and 25T lengths. The helm has been cleaned up around two large display screens, with a stern thruster operated by twisting the throttle for docking in wind, tide or current without taking a hand off the controls. A multifunction knob next to it switches the wave side to side and adjusts speed, weight and audio. The boat carries cameras for the bow, tower and transom, eight phone holders with four that charge, electronic seats that move fore and aft and up and down, and ballast pumps that fill in under two minutes. Wake presets fill the ballast and set 21 mph for an intermediate rider, while surf settings move between mellow, steep and speed; the push held out to 24 and 25 feet behind the boat in testing.

On deck, MasterCraft wakeboard boats emphasize storage and rider comfort. The X24's Z9 power tower raises quickly and folds its bimini parallel above the boat, adding four board-storage slots and a cargo net up top, with optional sound-pod tower speakers that cast audio back to the surfer and down into the cockpit. The transom holds multiple surf and wakeboards in slots that accept removable bags, with a center tow point for wakeboarding and side connections for surf rope. The bow uses a wide pickle-fork shape, a frameless windshield that opens up the helm view, cool-touch vinyl, and bow cushions that flip to give either a shallow walkthrough or a sun pad. Audio is a standard Meridian-tuned system MasterCraft calls Sound Stage, with speaker placement set per model.

The larger X26 stretches to 26.5 feet and runs a standard pump-driven ballast system with high-volume pumps for quick fills. Its Surf Star surf system uses angled plates with ridges and contours rather than a flat tab, which helps the relatively flat-bottomed hull clean up its wave; MasterCraft does not publish deadrise figures. The rear bucket seats are a strength for ergonomics and lounging, though the deep recessed design and a full-size plug-and-play ballast bag leave little rear storage. Buyers cross-shop the X26 against boats like the Centurion Ri265, which packs more ballast and a deeper-V hull.
