Overview:

Montaña (formerly named Endurance) is the most stunning example of a Westsail 32 Shipmaster available anywhere in the world. Originally manufactured as hull 802 in 1979, Endurance began a total and complete refit and manufacturing program in 2000. The re-fit/re-manufacturing was completed in 2006 by Manchester Marine with the assistance of manufacturing managers at both Hinckley and Pacific Seacraft. The vessel was completely disassembled and all legacy equipment, systems, electrical, plumbing, rigging and machinery removed and either sold or discarded.

Endurance was then manufactured within the legendary Westsail hull and deck to the highest quality standards of the modern boat builders craft. Endurance is offered as essentially a new yacht with quality modern systems and rigging.

ENDURANCE (now called Montaña) WAS RECOMMISSIONED AND CONSIDERED NEW IN 2006.

Montana is truly a one-of-a-kind yacht and is ready to safely take her crew on voyages of a lifetime. Montaña is currently being sold by the second owners, who have sailed 5000 miles in the last three years around Florida and in the Bahamas. Her last voyage was an offshore 2000 mile trip towards Bermuda and back in March 2025.

Hull and Deck:

All new hull and deck hardware and equipment. The exterior underwater hull gelcoat was removed, six coats of epoxy resin and two coats of epoxy paint were applied to prevent hull blistering, followed by multiple coats of bottom paint. New Groco US-sourced bronze thru-hull fittings and ball valve seacocks were installed throughout. Hull and deck painted with Awlgrip-2. Rudder/gudgeons and all new bronze bolts were installed. The entire bilge was ground to fiberglass to remove the original paint and three coats of epoxy applied. All hardware/handrails were installed using the Hinckley process. The teak deck was refurbished, all seams reefed and Teak Decking Systems caulking applied to entire deck.

Masts and Rigging: Mast and booms shot blasted, recoated, new hardware and controls consistent with modern offshore sailing installed. Stainless steel boomkin, 9/32 shrouds, STA-LOC terminations throughout, Navtec C600 turnbuckles, blocks controls and running rigging installed. Whisker pole, Harken MKIII Jib Furling System, running backstays port and starboard.

Sails: All new sails, yankee jib, staysail and main and a Hood pole-less spinnaker. Five thousand miles of sailing over a three year period. Third reef added to mainsail summer 2024.

Engine: Beta Marine BV 1505 EPA, 37.5 bhp engine installed with oversized engine mounting plates complete to include; two new aluminum tanks providing 68 gal. fuel capacity with fuel level sensors, engine room blower, fuel lines, fuel control panel, filters, stern fitting, propeller shaft, cutlass bearing and propeller, with in-cockpit controls and gages. Engine laser aligned. Low hours (430 hours), very well maintained.

Electrical: New AC system and wiring, IsoGuard 3.5 KVA, isolation transformer, Blue Sea Systems distribution panel, Xantrax battery charger, GFI protected AC receptacles. All new DC system.

Electronics: New B&G electronics suite installed 2019.

Accommodations: Beautifully varnished teak and mahogany throughout the interior. Cast bronze elliptical opening ports (40% more light than oval ports) throughout the cabin and polished stainless steel compliment the beauty of the cabin. The cabin sole is crafted from 1" teak and holly throughout. Overhead is painted tongue and groove ash with deck beams. All opening locker doors feature positive locks to prevent inadvertent opening in a seaway and all drawers are sealed inside to prevent mold. The large v-berth cabin has filler cushions and new memory foam mattress. Enclosed head and shower area to port with bureau to starboard featuring varnished veneer counter top, four drawers, a locker below and an adjacent cedar closet.

The main cabin with dinette to port converts to a double berth, bookcase above. To starboard, a heavily constructed slide-out transom berth with a second berth above adjacent to the ceiling will sleep two crew. Next aft, to port is the galley with icebox, stove and sink. To starboard is a chart-sized nav table with veneer top and opening top for storage. Aft of the nav station is the quarter berth, a perfect at-sea berth for the off-watch crew member. Large door aft of the removable main hatch ladder provides access to the engine room.

Galley: The galley countertop is granite. Sink is polished stainless steel. Whale foot pump provides freshwater with additional Fynspray brass pump (freshwater only) provided for installation per new owner desires. Propane enclosure and tank are installed in aft cockpit locker with Trident system control on engine bulkhead and explosive gas detector system. Broadwater two burner stove with oven installed. Very nice propane system and stove is with 10lb. aluminum tanks included. Ice box has been double insulated and Frigoboat marine refrigeration holding plate system, smart speed control and water cooled keel cooler installed.

Head: Raritan PHII head, hoses, valves, pump and holding tank upgraded in 2023. Head countertop is granite and basin is gold-plated stainless.
