This wonderful and meticulously maintained express cruiser is a fine example of a fully loaded, top of the line Sea Ray Sundancer. Easily accommodating four guests in her two staterooms and additional two guests with a pull-out sofa located in the salon. Admiring her from the distance you will be immediately drawn to her long sleek profile, her beautiful sleek white hull, an enormous swim platform and the oversized hardtop.

The Sea Ray 500 offers plenty of room for family and friends on the oversize aft deck and helm area. The aft deck includes a molded fiberglass wrap around seat, a cozy love seat off to starboard and a large table for drinks. To port is a wet bar with refrigerator, ice maker and sink. 

One step forward from the aft deck going forward is the helm. This area is a captain’s dream, complete with cockpit air conditioning, captain’s chair with bolster and seating that converts into a chase lounge. The electronics package has it all;

C120 Ray Marine Chart Plotter, Smart Craft Vessel Monitoring, Raymarine 120 GPS, Radar with Raymarine ST8001 autopilot, Sea Ray navigator with Map Tech 300, Smart Craft monitoring system, Ray marine VHF, max power bow thruster, Clarion AM/FM/CD stereo, windlass remote, ACR spotlight and 12-volt adapter and JL Audio Speakers for the cherry on top! 

The bow area provides an oversized sun pad with drink holders, remote spotlight and foot pedal controls for the windlass and is accessed via breezeways leading from the cockpit to both port and starboard. 

Synthetic teak steps lead you down to the warm and inviting salon boasting 6'8" headroom. The sitting area includes a large ultra leather couch to starboard and an ultra-leather love seat aft with a pull-out sofa bed, complete with a cherry wood high-low table and moveable cushioned seats. To port is the built-in entertainment center with built in cabinets, complete with a 27" TV, satellite TV receiver, DVD player and AM/FM/CD player. An additional set of cherry wood cabinets are located just aft of the entertainment center to port and houses the AC/DC breaker panels. For entertainment, she is suited with a KVH TRAC VISION DV3 G4HP. Recessed behind cherry wood doors under the salon steps is an all-in-one washer/drier combo. 

To starboard forward of the salon is the beautiful and well appointed galley, with cherry wood cabinets, Corian countertops with built in sink and stainless steel single level faucet, coffee maker, microwave/convection oven, under counter side by side stainless steel refrigerator and freezer. Ample storage is located both above and below the counters.

The master stateroom is forward with an island pedestal queen bed providing storage on both sides. Port you will find a hanging closet with mirrored door and wall mounted 15" flat screen TV. There is an additional hanging locker to starboard. A private entrance leads to the master head where the owner can enjoy a soothing and relaxing shower in the large shower stall complete with built in seat and glass door. Adjacent to the shower sits a vanity with stainless steel sink, faucet and towel hanger. Completing the amenities is a vacu-flush head.

The guest stateroom and head are located to port and has over/under bunk beds with a small built in TV in the lower bunk and a hanging locker. The guest (day) head has a large stall shower, vanity with stainless steel sink, faucet, handrail and vacu-flush head. 

The 50 Sea Ray Sundancer, powered by twin Cummins 660HP QSM11-M diesel engines, will get you where you want to go with ease and style. Engine hours are 1135/1145 hours and the Onan 11KW generator has 1370 hours.

Engine Access and Mechanical Layout

Engine access on the 500 Sundancer is facilitated by a centrally located hatch in the cockpit deck, featuring a surrounding gutter system that channels water to an overboard drain. Although the engine compartment is somewhat compact, routine checks are manageable. The boat is powered by twin 526 horsepower Cummins MerCruiser diesel engines, each supplied by dual Raycor filters with ball valves enabling filter isolation for maintenance without engine shutdown. Raw water strainers are positioned near the ladder base, with engine start batteries located just behind. Wiring is neatly arranged, and all hoses are double clamped with protective measures against sharp edges. The generator, positioned forward within the compartment, is mounted with its fuel filter secured to a sound shield. Buyers can select from 7, 8, or 11.5 kW genset options.

Exterior Design and Deck Features

Access to the side decks is convenient via T-shaped steps to port and a removable seat cushion to starboard, complemented by strategically placed grab handles along the steps and hardtop to ensure safe movement to the bow. The bow area is notable for its substantial windshield with electrically operated opening vents at the base, enhancing ventilation. Safety is emphasized with 32-inch high rails exceeding standard requirements. Operational controls include foot pedals for the windlass on the port side, dual hatches providing access to the all-chain rode, and a heavy-duty plow anchor secured on a stainless steel davit.

Helm and Bridge Layout

The helm deck offers a generous overhead clearance of 6 feet 6.5 inches and dual opening skylights, creating an airy environment. The helm station is finished in foam marble and equipped with twin 12-inch multifunction displays alongside a MerCruiser VesselView display. Heated air conditioning vents flank the helm, providing comfort in various conditions. Analog gauges are thoughtfully positioned in typically underutilized spaces. The helm seat features a padded thigh-high bolster, while the Zeus joystick is ergonomically placed for ease of use, especially when maneuvering aft. Engine controls are positioned according to customer feedback, though the reviewer noted a lack of armrest support for fine throttle adjustments in rough seas. The Precision Pilot control module is conveniently located adjacent to the controls. Visibility from both seated and standing positions is excellent due to the tall windshields. Steering required only two turns from lock to lock, producing a comfortable five-degree heel angle. The test boat, weighing 42,791 pounds with fuel and four passengers, achieved a top speed of 34 knots at 3,030 RPM, consuming 59.9 gallons per hour and offering a range of 204 nautical miles. Optimal cruising speed was 26.1 knots at 2,600 RPM with a fuel burn of 41.2 gallons per hour, extending the range to 228 nautical miles. The boat reached planing speed in 9.7 seconds and accelerated through 30 mph in 18 seconds. In challenging conditions with 15-20 mph winds and an outgoing tide, the 500 Sundancer maintained a smooth, dry ride with minimal pounding, effectively deflecting water spray. Trimming the bow up improved dryness at a slight cost to speed. The vessel handled beam seas with surprising comfort and allowed increased speed in head seas. In following seas, the boat tracked straight and maintained bow elevation with trim tabs, even at wide-open throttle. Docking maneuvers were simplified by the Zeus joystick system.
