Deck Layout

At the core of the Pacific Seacraft 40's deck and cockpit design are the crew's safety while under sail and maneuvering during docking and anchoring. The stainless steel bow platform secures two anchors with rode leading aft to a Lighthouse Model 1501 mounted on a raised boss.   teak footing and spreads the dual anchor rollers apart for easier setting and retrieval.  A spacious foredeck with centerline king plank provide  a foothold to brace between the raised bulwark and the foredeck center. Wide side decks, 30 inch high bulwark mounted stanchions, continuous top and middle lifelines, and 5 inch tall bulwarks enhance crews safety and ease of movement fore and aft.  All decks and cockpit sole and cabin top have a molded non skid pattern to enhance footing.  All spar lines lead to the mast base turning blocks, through deck organizers and rope clutches to self-tailing winches on the coach house. There is a special molded-in shearwater designed for attachment of leading edge of the dodger.  The mainsheet system includes a traveler forward of the companionway and dedicated self-tailing winch to starboard of the companionway.  Primary winches for the headsail and staysail are mounted on the cockpit combings and easily reached from the helm.  The deck quickly sheds water through bulwark hawse pipes and through deck drains that exit at the waterline.  The self bailing cockpit includes padeyes for safety harnesses, and four recessed combing storage boxes.  Pedestal steering post with single lever throttle/gear control and instrument pod provide fingertip control.
