Cons
Maintenance Requirements: Like many performance-oriented boats, the J/120 may require more upkeep compared to simpler models, particularly if used frequently in racing scenarios.
Draft Considerations: The draft of 7 feet can limit access to shallower waters and ports, making it less convenient for those who frequent tighter marinas or cruising in shallow areas.
Price Point: The initial investment for a J/120 can be on the higher side, making it less accessible for new sailors or those on a tighter budget.
Performance Over Comfort: While designed for performance, the emphasis on speed may compromise ultimate comfort at sea, especially in rough conditions.
Sail Handling: The sail package can be complex for inexperienced sailors. Mastery of the two-spreader rig requires some skill and understanding of sail dynamics.
