If you have been looking at this well maintained IP 31 online...it is time to come take a look and make an offer!
The current owners of "Dreamtime" bought her in late November 2015. They addressed the findings on the Survey, and have done a great job of keeping this classic pocket cruiser in "above average" condition. They have spent thousands over the last 11 months of ownership getting her ready to cruise both functionally and aesthetically.
Their Cruising Plans have changed due to health reasons.
Take a close look at the pictures. The high quality build of the Island Packet 31 makes it possible to clean her up like a classic Mercedes.
There were 264 IP 31's sold in a production run that lasted from 1983 to 1989. The Hull is solid fiberglass construction. A unique feature of all Island Packet sailboats is their method of deck construction. Instead of using balsa or foam core material, Island Packet uses their own "Polycore", a mixture of resin fillers which is heat, rot, and delamination proof. The deck is attached with a integrally molded hull flange and a through bolted hull to deck joint using lock nuts. The accommodations and livability of the IP 31 may be matched but can't be beat on a 31' boat. The 11'6" maximum beam and wide waterline beam allow accommodations to be pushed outboard providing plenty of livable space. (6'3" Headroom) The galley is U-shaped and is the size found on many 35 to 38 footers. The newly reupholstered Quarter Berth can be fully enclosed.

The Biggest Pros and Cons
The 1988 Island Packet 31 Island Packet is a well-regarded cruising sailboat known for its solid construction and comfortable accommodations. Here are some pros and cons to consider:
Pros
Sturdy Build: The Island Packet 31 features a robust fiberglass hull with a full keel, providing excellent stability and durability, ideal for offshore cruising.
Comfortable Interior: The boat offers a spacious and well-designed interior for its size, with ample storage, a comfortable V-berth, and a functional galley.
Easy Handling: With a cutter rig and manageable sail plan, it’s suitable for short-handed sailing, making it a great choice for cruising couples.
Good Seaworthiness: Known for its ability to handle challenging sea conditions, the Island Packet 31 is built for safe and comfortable long-distance sailing.
Classic Design: The traditional lines and teak trim give the boat a timeless and attractive appearance.
Cons
Heavier Weight: The full keel and solid construction contribute to a heavier displacement, which can result in slower speeds compared to lighter, fin-keel sailboats.
Limited Performance: While stable, the design prioritizes comfort and safety over racing performance, so it may not satisfy those looking for a fast or sporty sailboat.
Older Systems: Being a 1988 model, some onboard systems and equipment may require updating or maintenance to meet modern standards.
Draft Limitations: The fixed full keel with a draft around 4.5 feet may restrict access to very shallow waters or certain anchorages.
Less Maneuverable: The full keel design, while stable, typically results in a larger turning radius and less agility in tight marina spaces compared to fin-keel boats.
