Crosswinds is currently berthed in Long Boat Key, but she will be put on the hard in Port Charlotte by the middle of April. The current owners will be moving back to Washington state. They tried the cruising / liveaboard lifestyle, but found they are not currently able to maintain it at this point.

Since purchasing the boat in October 2020, they made some upgrades and additions. In total, they have put $6500 - $7000 into repairs and parts.

New 9'2" Highfield inflatable

New starter installed

Water heater is rebuilt

New jib sheets

One motor mount has been replaced, there are three others onboard but not installed

4 new lithium batteries, 100 amp hours each. There is a regulator between the batteries and the alternator

Many parts have been purchased and are included in the sale. At this time a complete list is being assembled.

The Hunter 376 is a capable small cruiser. It has two cabins and the dinette converts to a double berth. In the head there is a separate stall shower, something that is rare on 37 footer. The interior of Crosswinds is very clean. The teak and holly cabin sole is in very good condition. All soft goods are also in very good condition.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1996 Hunter 376 is a popular cruiser known for its balance of comfort, performance, and value. Here are some of the key pros and cons of this model:

Pros

Spacious Interior: The Hunter 376 offers a roomy and well-laid-out cabin with ample headroom and comfortable sleeping accommodations for families or groups.

Innovative Design: Features like the Hunter’s signature B&R rig provide easier sail handling and improved performance without the need for a backstay.

Good Performance: With a moderate displacement and a well-designed hull, the 376 delivers respectable sailing performance for coastal cruising and club racing.

Versatile Layout: Multiple cabin and head configurations allow customization to suit various cruising needs.

Easy Handling: The sail plan and control lines are designed for simplicity, making it manageable for short-handed crews.

Quality Build: Hunter sailboats from this era are known for solid construction and thoughtful use of space.

Cons

Weight: The boat is on the heavier side compared to some contemporary cruisers, which can affect light-wind performance.

Engine Power: The standard engine may be underpowered for challenging conditions or heavy loads, requiring potential upgrades.

Maintenance Needs: Like many older boats, the 1996 Hunter 376 may require ongoing maintenance, especially if not well cared for by previous owners.

Limited Upwind Performance: While good overall, the B&R rig and hull shape may not excel in very tight upwind sailing compared to more performance-oriented designs.

Interior Finish: Some owners find the interior finish and materials dated compared to newer models, which might require updating for modern tastes.

Made For

The 1996 Hunter 376 is ideal for sailing enthusiasts and families seeking a comfortable and spacious cruiser. Its thoughtful design and ample amenities make it perfect for weekend getaways, coastal cruising, and extended trips, offering a great balance of performance and liveaboard comfort for both novice and experienced sailors.
