Ching-Tu is a handsome and sturdy Hardin Island Trader 45 Center Cockpit cutter/ketch owned and diligently maintained by a USN Master Chief whose career on naval ship repair. His abilities were applied to Ching-Tu during the 20 years he has owned her, and her condition reflects experience and skill with boat management and maintainance, all of which is noted in detail in the Ching-Tu ship's log. Many parts and spares remain on board for her new owner, along with an impressive supply of tools.
Far and away, she's among the finest Hardins available. She is outfitted for coastal cruising and beyond, with solar, large battery array/inverter, radar, AIS, solid safety features and equipment, and comfortable quarters below -- including the aft captain's cabin. She is ICW friendly, with a draft of 5'6" and mast height of 56'. Sailed primarily on the East Coast and to the Carribbean and back, in the past few years she has had lighter use in the last few years as the grandkids began arriving. Ching-Tu is ready for her next chapter with new owners who will be able to set sail quickly.
Ching Tu's original engine was replaced in 2008 with a Yanmar Turbo 40 hp diesel, which has been meticulously maintained; around that time her original wood mast and boom were replaced with aluminum spars. In the last three years, she has received new beige cockpit canvas with a full enclosure; her 6 AGM batteries are three years old. Her exterior teak railings and other fixtures were refreshed in 2025; her cockpit teak will refinished shortly.
