"Spirit", is a 1992 steel cutter, a custom design by Bruce Bingham for an individual who then had the vessel constructed by Marine Metals Inc. (Howdy Bailey) a well respected steel boat builder on the Chesapeake Bay. The vessel is designed for a couple to sail the world, her deep center cockpit, 6' 6" draft, and easily handled sail plan make passages on any ocean safe and easy. She was re-powered in 2020 with a new 56 hpYanmar 4JH57 diesel with now less than 200 hrs on the digital meter. She also has a set of B&G instruments including Halo 20+ radar/plotter, as well as a Raymarine multifunction display with chart potter, and sonar, both deep and side scan, and a Raymarine True/Apparent wind instrument.
Standing rigging is 1x19 stainless steel with StaLock mechanical terminals, the main sail is in-boom roller furling, and one of the double forestays is equipped with a Profurl roller furling. The paint is in serviceable condition and decks have been well cared for.
The bottom was recently blasted, faired and refinished by Panhandle Marine and is smooth as silk.
