The Bill Lapworth designed CAL line of 46-foot ketch-rigged passagemakers has done yeoman's duty for generations of sailors intent on heading offshore for extended cruising. Weighing 15 tons with 8,000 lbs of lead ballast for stability, the CALs earned a reputation for seaworthiness, comfort, and security. LIBERTY is a conscientiously maintained 1976 3-46 model -- the third and final iteration of the line -- that has been extensively cruised by experienced sailors. Fine joinery below deck only enhances her appeal, while large windows flood the spacious salon with natural light, and the owner's stateroom is big enough for a custom-built full-size desk with swing-out seat. This is in addition to a dedicated navigation station in the salon, and a walk-around engine compartment. There are two head compartments (one with a separate stall shower), and even a stand-up workroom to port of the engine compartment, with a permanently mounted vise. Most everything you will need for successful passagemaking is already installed, including an 18 gph watermaker, a full canvas cockpit enclosure, a dinghy and outboard engine, updated electronics, and a diesel-fueled generator. If you're in the market for a boat that can deliver a high level of liveability, look no further than LIBERTY.
