The Brewer 12.8 is the most sought after model of this line. Created by Ted Brewer, one of the greatest modern cruising boat designers, the 12.8 was built at the Ft. Myers Yacht and Shipbuilding Yard in Ft. Myers, Florida. Brewer was charged with designing a comfortable and safe platform that was graceful and seaworthy but that would not compromise creature comforts for extended cruisers.
Brewer refined his previous design (the famous Whitby 42), with several changes: the "Brewer Bite", a cutaway forefoot keel that significantly eliminated wetted surface, thus improving light-air performance; a skeg mounted rudder; and a centerboard (4'6" board up & 9' board down) to improve windward performance.
With twin furling head sails (genoa & staysail) and an in-mast furling main, all lines are handled easily from the safety of the enclosed cockpit. The addition of a forestay (staysail) that is quickly removed & stowed in place at the mast, provides greater flexibility for coastal cruising with easier tacking of the larger genoa and/or jibing with an asymmetrical spinnaker.
Her shoal draft is perfect for the Bahamas and Florida Keys, while the centerboard provides increased stability and improved offshore performance.
Tribute has been professionally maintained at the Hinckley Yard in Stuart each season by very meticulous owners, who are currently enjoying their final cruise aboard TRIBUTE.
After 6 wonderful years of cruising, the owners age & health force them to sell this beauty. They have just returned from their final cruise to Miami and are now removing all personal items & making Tribute "show ready" at Loggerhead Marina in Stuart FL. They hope to find a good home for their baby before returning to Maine for the summer.
TRIBUTE has been lovingly cared for and she is now ready for you! Come see her today!!
