Boat Features

The Cobalt R31 is an outboard-powered day boat with a length overall of 31 feet 5 inches and a beam of 9 feet 10 inches, built for families and groups who want to spend full days at the sandbar, skiing, wakeboarding and tubing. It carries 160 gallons of fuel for longer runs, weighs roughly 9,500 pounds dry, and runs about 7 and a half feet wide on the interior, giving it seating for at least a dozen people. The boat is yacht certified, so the limit is simply one PFD per person aboard. Buyers shopping the Cobalt R31 for sale will find it positioned as a step up from a 28- to 29-foot boat, or as a downsize from a 33- to 35-foot cruiser for owners who want to keep twin engines.

Power comes from twin outboards. Rigged with twin Yamaha 350 V6 engines, the R31 reaches a top speed in the mid- to low-50-mph range. The hull draws just 26 inches with the engines up and 44 inches with them down, which suits shallow coastal water. Twin 300-horsepower Volvo V8 outboards are another available configuration. Both setups pair with an Optimus joystick, letting the boat crab walk sideways, pivot 360 degrees and dock in current or wind without a fight. Auto Glide trim tabs are an available option.

The helm centers on a dual Garmin 12-inch display array running chart plotting, engine diagnostics, audio and lighting control. The R31 introduces digital switching, managing cockpit lights, anchor, navigation and docking lights, bilge pumps, water pump, blower, windlass and the electric seat from the screens, with traditional push-button switches at the dash and a diagnostics page that verifies the ECMs and modules. The captain's seat is an extra-wide, electrically actuated bolster that slides fore and aft and fits two side by side. A Helm Watch option lets a guest control charts, radio and lighting, and the co-captain chair rotates to face the cockpit. Wireless inductive phone chargers are placed at the helm, co-captain station, transom, lounge and bow.

The aft platform is large and wide, with an optional hydraulic swim step that extends into the water plus Cobalt's flip-out swim step, and an available teak board package running across the platform, side entry and cockpit. A transom walk-through gate and a side entry step with about a 10-inch drop are standard. The hardtop offers an electric telescopic sunroof, an electric awning in black or white covering the lounge, and a three-position board rack. Aft seating converts between forward- and rear-facing, including independent rumble seats, and a hydraulically actuated section lifts to reveal storage and bilge access. Storage is a defining feature: deep molded tubs under every cockpit cushion with drained, netted bases, in-floor storage running from cockpit to bow, a molded fender locker holding three 8-inch buoys, and drained compartments usable as ice chests.

Inside, the R31 carries a full head on the starboard side with a porcelain toilet, sink with faucet and trash can, or a watersports closet in its place that opens to both the head and the bow for board storage. The port console is a prep galley with a charcuterie/cutting board and an optional refrigerator, with deeper storage when the fridge is left out. The bow has a U-shaped lounge with armrests, flip-up seats over deep storage, and table base mounts for both bow and cockpit. Audio runs to the Harman Kardon platinum system, including a sandbar option with hidden rear-firing transom speakers and hardtop speakers projecting down into the cockpit. At the 2026 Miami boat show, the Cobalt R31 outboard was priced at $425,000 with show incentives applied.
