Red Ranger is a Whitby 42 ketch. She is a full keel, heavy displacement hull designed by Ted Brewer. This popular model, with over 300 sold, offers a center cockpit with owner's cabin and private head aft, and the guest cabin and an additional head forward. She has a good-sized center cockpit and is comfortable and seaworthy. She is spacious and airy below decks with generous sleeping cabins and 2 heads. Accommodations include 6 berths in 2 cabins. There is full 6'3" standing headroom and excellent ventilation throughout. Forward is a large V-berth with center cut out. Her 5' draft and 80hp Ford Lehman diesel make her an ideal cruising boat or liveaboard for the shallow waters. Likewise, the Whitby 42 is a blue water capable cruiser with a number of ocean crossing.
As you enter the salon there is a U-shaped galley with a 3-burner propane stove/oven, a double sink, H & C water and lots of storage. Forward of the galley is an L-shaped settee/berth with a drop down dining table. To starboard as you enter the salon there is a Nav station with a drop-down bar/table and bulkhead storage port and starboard. The salon woodwork is very nice and she is equipped with a beautiful teak boxed mast and teak and holly sole. Forward of the salon is a full head and a forward V-berth cabin. Aft of the Nav station there is a workbench in the passageway to the aft cabin. There is access to the well-kept 80-HP Ford Lehman diesel from the passageway. The aft cabin is nicely equipped with a large berth, lots of storage, adjacent head and access from the cabin directly to the cockpit.
