'Odyssey' is a 1979 Vagabond 47 built by Blue Water Yachts in Taiwan. Known for their spacious, attractive interiors; robust GRP construction; and graceful, traditional lines, Vagabond 47's have been a favorite within the cruising community. With her full keel, heavy displacement, and well laid out center cockpit she is considered a 'sea kindly' boat which is a joy to sail. 'Odyssey' has been extensively refurbished and had many improvements made by her live aboard owner over the last two years. Purchased from a previous live aboard owner who had kept her mostly 'at the dock' for a number of years, the plan was to "bring the boat back'" to a quality cruising yacht.
To achieve this goal the mast was unstepped and gone over and rebuilt with timber brought up from Trinidad. The mizzen was replaced. The chain plates were removed and an new ones manufactured and installed. The rig was inspected and any rigging that didn't pass was replaced. The sails were taken in to the sailmaker and put in good order. The Ford Lehman diesel engine was serviced in Grenada and has been serviced again here in Ft Lauderdale.
The end result was a relatively trouble free cruise up from Grenada to Ft Lauderdale via the DR.
Odyssey is priced to sell! She sound in the hull and deck and does not leak.She does need a new owner who is willing to put in the time and elbow grease to bring her back to her former glory.
