Ocean Jasper is one of 27 Sundeers designed by Steve Dashew and built at TPI Composites between 1994-1999 in the 56/60 range, nine of these were 60's. The original Deerfoot line began back in 1978 and was the product of Steve and Linda Dashew's extensive offshore cruising experience. The Sundeer version is generally regarded as the most refined of the Dashew sailing yacht concepts.
Built at the well known TPI Composites yard in Rhode Island utilizing the "SCRIMP" method of resin infused fiberglass lamination, the Sundeers were built to a bluewater standard, with both strength and optimum weight in mind for fast and comfortable passages.
With a long lean hull form, a modest beam and draft of only six feet, this 60 foot cutter is capable of making fast passages, with a sail plan that is easy to handle for a short handed crew. With her enclosed pilot house cockpit forward, and her helm and steering aft under canvas and all sail controls leading aft, she can be easily sailed short handed.
Ocean Jasper has recently completed a circumnavigation and her owners are ready to move on to new adventures. She is well equipped and has been maintained to a high standard.
She has an excellent sail inventory, she's been re-powered with both her Yanmar engine and Westerbeke generator. Electronics have been updated, and include GPS, Hi Def Radar, AIS, good ground tackle, SSB Radio, she has a watermaker, air conditioning, Espar diesel heater, new Washer/Dryer, Sea Frost refrigeration/freezer and has shore power connections for both US 120 V AC and worldwide 220 V AC. She's a true international cruiser.
She's safe with her water tight bulkheads and no thru hull fittings in the living quarters. Her rig has been replaced and she is intra-coastal friendly with under 65' bridge clearance.
