Aquae Sulis was sailed in 2013 from UK to the Bahamas.Ã? Her US owners have sailed her throughout the Bahamas and in Florida.Ã? Ã?Â
Southerly Yachts represent a great opportunity for the discriminating sailor seeking both sailing performance with a Deep Draft of 7'2" and the freedom of navigating with Shallow Draft of only 2'4"!
Designed by Rob Humphreys and built by Northshore Yachts
Southerly Yachts are designed and built to deliver extreme shoal draft as well as deep draft performance and stability. These yachts are considered by many to be true blue water boats designed and built to cross oceans. With the electronically contrlled keel up, the Southerly 110 has an extreme shoal draft of only 2 feet 4 inches! With the keel all the way down, the S110 draft is an impressive 7 feet 2 inches and will allow her to point high. The keel is fully adjustable to any depth that you wish with the push of a button. The twin rudders provide exceptional tracking on all points of sail.
"Aquae Sulis" has been professionally maintained. She is hull #102. She has low hours on the engine. In 2013 she sailed from England to the Caribbean. Initially built for her first owners with over $100,000 of well thought out upgrades and options she is ready to set sail with her new owner. Following are a few of her highlights:
Bow thruster
Max prop
Radar/Chartplotter with AIS
SSB
Autopilot
Electric Windlass
Wind Generator
Hot air heating system
Concertina blinds
Large aft stateroom
Like new UK mailsail in stackpack and UK genoa on furler
Like new Dodger, Bimini and privacy screens
Dinghy & Outboard
and much more...
SHALLOW DRAFT FREEDOM - At the touch of a button, the keel can be raised, to sail in shallow waters. This means you can extend your cruising grounds considerably. Raising the swing keel gives you access to many tidal locations and allows you to berth this yacht literally on the beach or keep her at your shallow water dock or even on a lift!
DEEP DRAFT PERFORMANCE - The swing keel provides a deep draft which gives high pointing ability and greater stability due to the increased righting moment. In practice the boat is stiffer, carries her sail better and carves her way efficiently to windward in any seaway. The swing keel's air foil shape is highly efficient - and allows you to point high.
We highly recommend this yacht for the sailor interested in being able to sail, explore and dock in waters where others just cannot venture.
