Shearwater is a lovingly maintained example of this classic cruising yacht and a great boat for someone looking to sail the Bay or even do some coastal cruising without breaking the bank.
The interior takes one back to when sailboats were designed to actually sail offshore while providing security and comfort for the crew. A sea-going galley with a large single sink with pressurized water close to the centerline, a 2 burner propane stove, a large refrigerated cold storage unit and sufficient storage for needed galley ware. Continuing forward into the salon one finds a settee and pilotberth to starboard and a settee with ample locker storage to port. Forward of the salon is the reasonably spacious wet head with manual Jabsco marine toilet and shower nozzle. Forward of the head is the ample V berth with additional locker storage and access to the anchor locker.
Of particular interest is the immaculately maintained Yanmar 3GM30 diesel engine that was installed around 2006. The topsides were recently painted with Sea Foam Green AlexSeal paint in exceptional precision. The deck was painted a few years ago with Awlgrip. The sails are approximately 15 years old but well-maintained with "low miles." Andersen 46 winches and a Schaefer roller furler for the head sail are quality upgrades, as are the Gaurhauer vang and jib track blocks. The electronics are older but functional and include an Autohelm 4000 Wheel Pilot. The gallery offers refrigerated cold storage and there is a Force10 Cozy Cabin Propane heater that will extend your cruising season by taking the chill off late Fall and early Spring mornings. The cockpit canvas is in good shape with the dodger isinglass recently replaced.
