Introduced in the mid‑1980s, only 15 boats Mason 54s were built, making this a rare opportunity to purchase a well maintaining cruising yacht with classic styling and solid construction. The hull is solid fiberglass with a skeg‑hung rudder, a deep and secure center cockpit, a cutter rig, bow thruster, and a luxurious hand‑finished teak interior. Nordik Light, an outstanding example of the highly rated Mason 54, is now available for sale in Annapolis, Maryland.
The Mason 54 is built to Lloyds +100AI specifications. The Majecstic Blue hull is hand laid with vinylester resin and stiffended with eight full length foam cored longitudinal stringers and 23 transverse members. Structural bulkheads are securely fiberglasses to the hull. The boat has copper strapping glassed into hull for SSB radio counterpoise. The hull to deck joint is bedded in 3M 5200, thru-bolted on 8" centers, resin filled and fiberglass taped thru-bolted on 4" centers in way of the genoa tracks. The teak rub rail is also thru-bolted with 3/8" stainless bolts and fender washers on 4' centers and is protected with stainless steel half-round striker plates.
The deck is cored with end grain balsa isolated with resin in honeycomb pattern between FRP skins. There is a fitted teak grate in cockpit well Teak "eyebrow" trim on coach roof Teak coaming caps and grab rails. All deck hardware is 316 stainless steel fabricated to highest standard with welds ground smooth and electro-polished. There are dorade vents fore and aft with stainless steel guards.
The Mason 54 sleeps up to six in three staterooms. It also has two heads, each with a separate shower stall, plus settee berth in the salon that converts into a seventh sleeping berth. Interior joinery is done in Burma teak and marine grade mahogany with a warm matte finish throughout. Satin white formica is used in both heads allowing for easy cleaning. Floorboards are done in teak and holly with epoxy coating on the underside of all hatches and lead foam sound barrier installed under each floorboard.
All hanging lockers have door activated lights, all lockers are lined with teak veneer, all drawers have dovetail joinery with handmade tracks and catches. There are nine (9) Mainship opening portlights with stainless frames, tempered safety glass and removable screens and right (8) Lewmar Ocean Series hatches with aluminum frames with removable sunshades and screens as well.
The owner's stateroom aft features a queen-sized island berth on centerline with walking space on either side, ample storage in hanging lockers and drawers, and standing headroom for lounging in privacy. There are reading lights and fans on either side of master berth. The generous head has a ceramic tile floor, separate shower compartment, elegant fixtures, and a Seagull water filter. The forward head is a Jabsco Quiet Flush electric toliet and the owners head has a Master Flush 8600 electric toliet. For ventilation, there are opening portlights in the head and shower compartments and a 12v fan. TV with VHS/DVD player.
Your family or guests will feel pampered in generous accommodations forward of the main salon. The guest stateroom has a large pullman berth, generous storage in hanging lockers and drawers, and standing headroom for two adults to change in privacy. The forward stateroom has a removable filler to convert from 2 single berths to a generous double berth. All guest berths have reading lights and fans.
The main salon is a delight for relaxing, dining, or entertaining. To port is a large U-shaped dinette, and to starboard is a straight settee with a convenient cocktail table. There is a custom crystal cabinet in the main salon. 12-v fans circulate air throughout the well ventilated cabin. There is also a bulkhead mounted TV with CD/DVD player.
The large navigation station to starboard at companionway landing enables direct communication with cockpit and includes a large chart-sized table, wrap-around instruments and electrical control panels.
A lavish walk-thru galley secure for offshore passage-making is to port of the companionway, with easy access from the main salon. Befitting a yacht of her calibre, there is generous counter space and abundant storage for a full range of galley ware and provisions for long range live aboard cruising. The galley features a Force 10 3-burner stove with oven, deep double s/s sink, Seagull water filter, ice maker (new 2026), trash compactor, fresh water foot pump, Dometic refrigeration (2017), microwave; and powerful exhaust fan.
There is also a Splendide 210-XC Washer/Dryer installed inboard at the aft end of the galley. This boat comes with three (3) Dometic reverse cycle air conditioners and well as a Espar diesel heater system. Everything you will need to be comfortable offshore and while living aboard.
The Yanmar (4JH110) common rail diesel engine (2,700 hours) can move Nordik Light at 9 knots. She cruises at 7-7.5 knots at 1800 rpms and will consume only 1.3 gallons of diesel per hour giving her a range of 1,200-1,550 nautical miles under power. Mechanical features include the following:
