2001 Contest 48 CS Deck Saloon Cutter
Alani: Dutch Built Bluewater Cutter, Refitted and Ready to Sail
Alani is a 2001 Contest 48 CS, a Dick Zaal design built by Conyplex in Medemblik, the Netherlands, and certified CE Category A for ocean passages. She is a deck saloon cutter with a classic teak interior, three cabins and two heads, each head with its own shower stall, and berths for six plus one in the saloon.
Her current owners bought her in Europe in late 2020, gave her an extensive refit in 2021 and have kept investing since: a new arch carrying 1,260 W of solar, a Victron lithium house bank, new standing rigging, a new Molenaar mainsail and genoa, Raymarine Quantum 2 doppler radar, and a new tender and outboard. With a watermaker, generator, all electric galley, washing machine, Webasto heat and Starlink, she is set up to live aboard and stay away from the dock.
Since the refit Alani has crossed the North Atlantic, cruised the Caribbean and sailed up the US East Coast as far as Nova Scotia before coming south to the Chesapeake. Electric primary winches, in mast furling, furling headsails and a bow thruster make her an easy boat for a couple to handle. She is lying in Pasadena, Maryland.
