Spending in excess of $100,000, the sellers renovated and updated this immaculately clean and well maintained vessel in 2021-2022.

In the 1980’s many trawlers were built in Taiwan boatyards; Bestway Marine was considered one of the top boat builders of the day. These trawlers are known for being built to last, with incredible teak joinery. One family owned Manana until her current owners bought her in March, 2021. They have spent their time of ownership updating her, but health issues force them to put her on the market.

The folding mast meet the bridge clearance requirements for America’s Great Loop.

The entire exterior of Manana was professionally repainted by the current owners. The bottom was also painted when Manana was on the hard in Fort Pierce, FL. The teak interior has been cleaned and polished; there are no current leaks. The owners have also updated all of the flybridge electronics, had the engine and generator serviced, added a new davit system and dinghy, redecorated the entire interior with new furniture and décor, replaced the galley appliances, painted the heads, updated the safety equipment, replaced all of the head and galley fixtures, and replaced all of the aft deck furniture. They have even replaced the doorknobs as needed! Manana is ready to cruise.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1987 Marine Trader LaBelle is a classic trawler-style yacht known for its sturdy construction and traditional design. Here are some of the pros and cons of this model:

Pros

Solid Build Quality: Marine Trader is renowned for its robust fiberglass construction and quality craftsmanship, making the LaBelle durable and seaworthy.

Classic Trawler Design: The LaBelle features a full displacement hull, providing excellent fuel efficiency and a comfortable, stable ride, especially in rough waters.

Spacious Interior: Despite its modest size, the 1987 LaBelle offers a well-laid-out interior with ample living and storage space, including comfortable sleeping quarters and a functional galley.

Good Visibility: The raised pilothouse design provides excellent all-around visibility, enhancing safety and ease of navigation.

Reliable Systems: Many owners appreciate the simplicity and reliability of the mechanical and electrical systems, which are easier to maintain compared to more modern, complex yachts.

Cons

Slower Speeds: Due to its displacement hull and traditional design, the LaBelle is not built for speed and will typically cruise at slower speeds than contemporary powerboats.

Older Systems: Being a 1987 model, some onboard systems and equipment may be outdated and could require upgrading or maintenance.

Limited Modern Amenities: The classic styling means fewer modern conveniences and technological features found on newer boats.

Maneuverability: The boat’s size and hull design may make tight maneuvering in marinas or crowded areas more challenging for less experienced operators.

Maintenance: As with many older vessels, ongoing maintenance is essential to keep the boat in good condition, which can require time and investment.
