Detailed Walkthrough
"EVERGREEN" has been maintained in yacht club condition since inception. She is hull #3. The Liberty 458 is an elegant long distance cruising yacht whose well thought out and live-able accommodation plan has received the plaudits of all who have inspected her. She has graceful lines, unsurpassed structural integrity and exceptional directional stability. These combinations, along with her spacious and well designed all teak interior makes her an ideal cruiser and live aboard.

When you enter "Evergreen" main cabin you are immediately surrounded by an elegance rivaling the finest of French restaurants. There is very little to suggest that what surrounds its posh all teak interior is a multitude of sophisticated systems making this modest looking yacht capable of leaving on an around the world cruise at the drop of a hat. In fact, that is just what she is designed for.

Due to the size and complexity of this vessel, I will try to take you step by step through her so you can get a good understanding of her interior layout. I will start with the forepeak and work my way to the stern:

Anchor chain and rode is stored in the large forepeak.

2) Next is an extremely large sail locker or storage area with a large holding tank to port.

3) Next is the forward head compartment with stainless steel sink, hot/cold pressure water, marble counter, solid teak ceiling strips on the hull sides, large mirrored medicine cabinet, and hand held shower.

4) Starboard and to port are two guest cabins offering total privacy from the main salon and each has access to the forward head. Starboard cabin has over and under beds, with the bottom converting to a double.

5) Aft of the guest cabins and to starboard is a very large, airy and gracefully curved L-shaped seating area with large dining table (storage within the table base) and seating for 7. One chair can be placed at the table for additional seating. Behind the salon seating are lockers for storage and a shelf for your cruising library. There is copious amounts of storage under the seating as well. Adjacent to the salon is a straight-line settee that can double as an additional berth. Outboard of the seating are a couple of lockers and additional space for books. Storage is under the seating as well. Aft end of the settee there is a built in liquor cabinet with glass doors adding a taste of elegance, small faux marble counter top and vented cabinet directly below. The salon features large fixed windows and a few opening screened ports. Center and aft is the companionway stairs with teak banister railings leading to the cockpit (storage under each step).

6) Aft of the L-shaped salon and down one step is the spacious galley presenting an efficiently laid out arrangement that provides excellent countertop space for meal preparation and ample storage. Although the galley is continuous with the main salon, it is out of the way from foot traffic. Once again, there is plenty of natural light, which offers a pleasant atmosphere to work in.

7) On port going aft, and stepping down, is the navigation station facing outboard. The navigation seat wings out from under the table. Again, plenty of storage for your nautical library, charts, and instruments. Aft of the navigation station is a workbench with a number of draws for part storage. Pass through from the salon to the master stateroom is spacious.

8) Adjacent from the navigation station are 3 opening doors for access to the engine room. Also a well-covered electrical panel is directly above the engine access doors. The navigation station area also acts as a pass through to the master stateroom, with plenty of headroom.

9) Now, we are all the way aft and in the spacious, inviting, and romantic master stateroom with three large windows in the transom. A large athwartship queen size bed, tremendous hanging vented lockers, bookshelves, cabinets, drawers on both sides of the bunk and drawers under too. The master head is quite large with shower and vanity.

Teak and holly cabin sole with access panels everywhere. All interior bulkheads covered with solid teak vertical staving. All ceilings covered with solid horizontal teak battens. Overhead is painted white. Marble countertops in the galley and heads. Solid teak salon table and solid teak joinery throughout. Solid "beveled" teak locking cabin doors throughout. Solid teak companionway steps with non-skid. Solid teak fascia boards/grab rails along full length of main salon. Red courtesy footlights provide illumination at night. 12 opening bronze ports with screens, 5 Lewmar hatches and 9 dorades. Numerous deck prisms providing additional below deck lighting, creating a pleasing visual effect. Engine compartment is located below the main salon floor, which adds to the stability of the vessel.

The galley is situated to starboard, C-shaped for ease of cooking and security while underway. Opening port to cockpit for ease of communication, and the passing of meals to the helmsman. "Evergreen" contains all the electrical appliances one would find in a normal home.

Insulating Evergreen is half-inch foam that lines the hull, stem to stern, keeping her cooler in the tropics and warmer in northern latitudes, as well as preventing hull sweat and mildew. (2) Holding tanks for a total capacity of 40 gals; gate values for overboard discharge. Fin keel with a well-protected rudder.

12V DC and 110V AC systems with hinged electrical panel and circuit breakers; 2500w Freedom inverter with 100w charger; Link 2000 Heart interface; 4-position battery selector switch. House batteries include 6 new DYNO Golf Cart batteries plus 2 new starting batteries for a total of 1,620amps; 12V lights and 110V outlets throughout. Shore power connector and 50' 30amp shore power cord; 115amp Balmar alternator; new Balmar 120amp spare alternator; Nilsson vertical anchor windless with foot down control only. Most of the vessel has been rewired.
Engine Details
Powering "Evergreen" is an Isuzu 60 hp diesel engine, which is located just beneath the companionway, and is accessible on three sides. The packing gland was designed forward of the shaft's true exit from the hull for easy access and routine maintenance, even while the engine is running and underway! Nothing was left to chance.
4-cylinder, fresh water-cooled Isuzu C-240 60hp diesel is in excellent operating condition with only 3,868hrs. Engine has been well maintained and properly serviced when due. New exhaust system; engine room spotless; up to date heat exchanger; Jabsco engine room blower; RACOR fuel filter. Heavy-duty bronze raw water strainer. Steering is hydraulic. Teak-rimmed stainless steel destroyer type wheel at the binnacle with pedestal guard.
Mechanical Equipment

• "Evergreen" has piping and wiring set up for a diesel forced air-heating system.

Deck Equipment
Decks are teak planking bedded in polysulfide and still in very good condition. Extra heavy, stainless steel bow pulpit, stanchions (bolted to bulwark, not on the deck), stern pulpit, stern boarding ladder and mast pulpits. Double lifelines with boarding gates port and starboard. Boom gallows of stainless steel, bronze and teak. (6) Heavy duty stainless steel mooring cleats with heavy bronze hawses through the bulwarks. Heavy-duty double anchor roller system at the bow. Nilsson V-1000 12V electric anchor windlass with down foot switch. 45# CQR primary anchor with 300' of 3/8" chain and secondary 22# Danforth anchor with chain and rode.
Life Sling and two horseshoe buoys mounted on the stern pulpit. Spreader lights. Firdell Blipper radar reflector. Very well kept cockpit dodger on stainless steel frames. Large teak wheel and easy to read electronic pods located in front of the wheel. Lines lead into the cockpit. Stern boarding ladder. Safety bell; propane BBQ; boat hook.
Sails
Extruded aluminum keel stepped mast and boom by Kenyon Spars. Double spreader; Cutter rig. Famet furling systems for both headsail and staysail. 125% Genoa and staysail are original, but still in good usable condition for Northwest cruising (lightly used and well cared for). Spinnaker with sock has had almost no use. Maxwell self tailing (2) #28's & (4) #24's winches. 1,075' of sail area. Sail covers and dodger are in very good shape.
Broker's Remarks
Evergreen has been carefully maintained and upgraded by the same owner over the last 15 years. A substantial portion of the teak decks have been removed, renewed or replaced and reinstalled to maintain integrity, appearance and function. The bright work has been carefully varnished each year to show the boat to its best advantage.

The electrical system has enjoyed a substantial upgrade with new core wiring, large capacity house banks, isolated starting batteries, and a 2500-watt charger-inverter with computerized control system (Link 2000). All the batteries are new in April 2005 with 6 golf cart batteries and two starting batteries.

This is a warm, inviting, well-ventilated, bright and spacious feeling cruising yacht, with an exceptional interior layout and in beautiful condition.
