The 38C is an outstanding vessel that exceeded her initial expectations. She replaced the successful Islander Freeport 36B model. Robert Perry incorporated both technical as well as layout changes that made a good boat even better. The 38C is distinctive with two windows port and starboard in the main salon. The mast is further forward for a larger main and increased sail area. The interior benefits with the mast being less intrusive below decks. The ballast is increased 1,400 lbs. resulting in a vessel with a comfortable motion and improved stability characteristics. She is indeed a vessel designed for offshore cruising.
