ISLAND PACKET YACHTS (and the IP 420, of course) were produced to the standards to qualify for the European "CE" Rating: Category "A" - Ocean". This is the highest level achievable and facilitates getting insurance for possible "offshore" voyaging as well.

Hull:

The ISLAND PACKET 420 was produced with the Company's proprietary "FULL FOIL KEEL" that provides enhanced directional stability, reduced draft, a reduced angle of heel and protection for the yacht's underbody, the rudder and the drive train. The "cutaway" underbody's spade rudder provides good control for the yacht and the reduced whetted surface does reduce parasitic drag as well. The LIVIN 2's bottom was stripped and epoxy barrier-coated in 2015.

Rig:

The ISLAND PACKET 420 is a cutter-rigged yacht and is equipped with a SPARCRAFT USA / CHARLESTON SPAR anodized aluminum roller-furling mainsail mast. The spar is keel-stepped with double spreaders, fore and aft lower shrouds, double backstays and internal halyards. There is a self-tending HOYT boom for the staysail.

Salon:

Aft Head:

It is located aft and to port of the Companionway entrance. The Head may be accessed via the Aft Cabin or the Salon.

Aft Cabin:

It is located just aft of the Aft Head. The entrance is via a separate door that is to port. The large Pullman-style berth is located further aft and is athwartships. The cabin is ventilated by an opening port and a 12VDC HELLA fan. There are drawers and storage lockers.
