"Croatan Trader" is an extremely well kept and upgraded Grand Banks 49 that's new to the market.  The owner of 13 years brought her down to Florida in late January 2016 (700 miles) and has put her on the yard at the first-class American Custom Boat Yard in Stuart, Florida.  She is a turn key vessel and is conveniently located to head to the East Coast or west to the Gulf Coast via the Okeechobee Waterway.  She had a recent bottom job in Beaufort, N.C. in October 2015 where primary cutlass bearings were replaced as well.  The salon sole was sanded and refinished in 2013.  She is very clean throughout. Spacious and newly insulated (sound down) engine room with 6 foot plus head room.  Large AGM House Bank (1200 ah), newer Xantrex SW Series Invertor/Charger, ONAN Genset and more.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1988 Grand Banks 49 Classic is a renowned trawler-style yacht known for its timeless design and solid construction. Here are some of the pros and cons of this model:

Pros

Classic Styling: The 49 Classic features elegant, traditional lines with a beautiful semi-displacement hull, appealing to those who appreciate classic yacht aesthetics.

Solid Construction: Built with high-quality materials and craftsmanship, this vessel offers durability and long-lasting performance.

Spacious Interior: The layout includes generous living spaces with multiple cabins, a full galley, and comfortable salon areas, making it ideal for extended cruising.

Stable and Comfortable Ride: The semi-displacement hull design provides excellent stability and a smooth ride even in moderate sea conditions.

Good Range: Equipped with efficient engines and substantial fuel capacity, the 49 Classic is capable of long-range cruising.

Excellent Visibility: The raised pilothouse design offers great all-around visibility for safe navigation.

Cons

Age Considerations: Being a 1988 model, some systems and equipment may be outdated and could require upgrades or maintenance.

Fuel Consumption: While efficient for its size, the semi-displacement hull and twin engines can lead to higher fuel consumption compared to more modern, lighter designs.

Maintenance Costs: The wooden accents and traditional fittings, while beautiful, may require regular upkeep to maintain their appearance and integrity.

Speed: Designed primarily for comfort and range rather than speed, the 49 Classic has moderate cruising speeds, which may not suit those seeking faster passages.

Limited Maneuverability: Due to its size and hull type, docking and tight maneuvering may require skill or assistance.
