This Classic Grand Banks has had extensive updating from a knowledgeable owner. Stabilizers were added in 2002, the teak decking on the main deck and boat deck has been removed and now is fiberglass nonskid. The mast has been altered to pick up a larger 12’ Nautica hard bottom inflatable dinghy with 40 HP Honda. All of the canvas covers and the Bimini top are in great shape and the Textilene window covers are recent. Much of the teak trim and handrails have been removed and replaced with stainless rails or updated with gel coat or paint. The interior shows very well and overall care has been much, much better than average.

Pros

Classic Design: The Grand Banks 49 Classic features a traditional and elegant profile that appeals to enthusiasts of timeless styling.

Solid Construction: Built with a robust fiberglass hull and quality craftsmanship, this model is known for durability and seaworthiness.

Spacious Interior: The layout offers generous living spaces, including comfortable cabins, a large salon, and a functional galley, making it ideal for extended cruising.

Stable and Comfortable Ride: The displacement hull design provides a smooth and stable passage, even in challenging sea conditions.

Good Range: Equipped with substantial fuel capacity and efficient engines, it offers excellent cruising range for long-distance voyages.

Ample Deck Space: The decks are designed for safety and ease of movement, with plenty of room for relaxing or handling lines.

Cons

Older Systems: As a 1980 model, many onboard systems such as electrical, plumbing, and navigation equipment may require upgrading or maintenance.

Lower Speed: The displacement hull and design focus on comfort rather than speed, so it cruises at moderate speeds compared to modern planing boats.

Maintenance Intensive: Older vessels often need ongoing upkeep, including engine servicing, hull maintenance, and interior refurbishment.

Fuel Consumption: While efficient for its size, the twin diesel engines can consume a considerable amount of fuel compared to newer, more fuel-efficient designs.

Limited Modern Amenities: The classic layout may lack some contemporary conveniences and technological features found on newer yachts.
