WALKTHROUGH

This 1990 model 46 Grand Banks Classic has been lovingly cared for over the last 15 years by the current owners. She offers traditional, beautiful teak handrails with scroll accents and a flybridge with EZ2CY enclosure above. Her galley down, two stateroom, two head layout below provides comfortable passage for long distance cruising. The aft deck/cockpit has ample room to maneuver with lazarette below. The flybridge is spacious with full helm instrumentation and abundant seating, including L-settee to starboard, fore and aft seating forward to both port and starboard. The aft cabin top holds the tender with davit crane and a deck box.

The private aft Master Stateroom features a walkaround queen berth, single berth to port, hanging locker and numerous storage drawers, full length mirror and more. The master head is to port and the separate stall shower to starboard. There are numerous port holes and a hatch that allow for natural light and ventilation when desired. Up two steps is a door to access the aft deck/cockpit.

To starboard in the Salon is an L-Settee with teak hi-lo table and a bar cart with drawers and icemaker forward. To port is a teak bookshelf and storage throughout with breakfast bar and stools forward overlooking the open U-shaped galley below. Access the galley down three steps and find a full-size refrigerator, deep freezer, stove/oven, microwave, double bowl sink with faucet with retractable sprayer and plentiful storage compartments.

Forward of the Galley is the VIP guest stateroom sits forward featuring a v-berth with hanging locker to port. Her berth is very large spanning fully to both sides of the hull, with the V insert she is an extremely spacious berth for a couple to comfortably rest. There is a second head and stall shower forward for use as an eu suite and day head for guests across from the lower galley. Just forward of this is the dedicated laundry area which features a stacked washer and dryer.

Access into the Engine Room is under the steps down to the forward accommodations. There is additional access via a sole hatch located mid-salon.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

Pros

Timeless Design: The Grand Banks 46 Classic boasts a classic trawler profile with a traditional aesthetic that remains appealing to boaters who appreciate elegance and style.

Robust Construction: Known for its solid fiberglass hull and high-quality craftsmanship, this vessel offers durability and longevity, making it a reliable option for cruising and long-term ownership.

Spacious Interior: With its well-thought-out layout, the 46 Classic provides ample living space, featuring a comfortable salon, a fully-equipped galley, and multiple staterooms, perfect for family and friends.

Excellent Seakeeping: The design of the hull provides stability and smooth passage through varying sea conditions, contributing to a comfortable cruising experience.

Fuel Efficiency: Powering the Grand Banks 46 Classic with twin diesel engines allows for slower cruising speeds, which significantly enhances fuel efficiency during long journeys.

Liveaboard Friendly: The boat's spacious accommodations and amenities make it suitable for liveaboard lifestyles, allowing for extended voyages without sacrificing comfort.

Strong Community Support: The Grand Banks brand has a dedicated following, offering a wealth of resources, knowledge, and support from fellow owners and enthusiasts.

Cons

Age Considerations: Being a 1991 model, potential buyers should be aware of the vessel’s age, which may necessitate upgrades or maintenance to keep the systems and amenities in top condition.

Less Speed: While designed for comfort and efficiency, the Grand Banks 46 Classic is not a high-speed boat. For those seeking quick passages, its cruising speed may feel slower compared to modern express cruisers.

Limited Storage: Although spacious, the interior layout may not provide as much storage space as some modern boats designed with greater emphasis on efficient use of available space.

Narrow Beam: The beam width can limit stability at rest, especially in rough conditions, making it advisable to take precautions when anchoring or docking.

Cost of Upkeep: Owning a classic boat may come with higher maintenance costs due to the need for specialized knowledge and parts as well as potential refurbishing to refresh its features.

Less Modern Technology: Compared to newer models, the technology and systems onboard might be outdated, which could concern those looking for the latest navigation, entertainment, or safety features.

Docking Maneuvers: The traditional trawler design may require some skill in handling and docking, especially for less experienced boaters.
