Broker's Comments

A well-dressed two-engine trawler that's great for coastal cruising and the Great Loop. The mast is easily lowered with two people and minimal force due to the block and tackle system. With experience I would venture to say could be done by a single person. Engine room feels spacious for a twin screw, with newer generator and fuel polishing system pushed aft in the layout. Exterior brightwork is in great condition. The entire vessel shows beautifully. A must see for any potential trawler owner.

Sturdy Build: Constructed from high-quality materials, the Grand Banks 42 is known for its durability and seaworthiness, making it an excellent choice for long journeys and coastal cruising.

Spacious Interior: The layout offers ample living space with a large salon, well-equipped galley, and comfortable staterooms, providing a cozy environment for extended cruises or family outings.

Versatile Cabin Arrangements: Many models come with customizable layouts, allowing owners to select configurations that best suit their needs, whether for entertaining or liveaboard purposes.

Cons

Speed Limitations: While perfect for leisurely cruising, the Grand Banks 42 is not geared for high-speed travel, making it less desirable for those looking to cover large distances quickly.

Maintenance Concerns: The extensive woodwork and classic design may require more frequent maintenance and care, particularly to keep the exterior looking its best.

Cost of Ownership: While the purchase price can be attractive, the upkeep, including maintenance and insurance costs, may add up over time, particularly for older models.

Older Technology: Many boats from 1989 may lack modern electronics and amenities, requiring upgrades for those desiring the latest technology and conveniences.

Handling in Rough Conditions: Although stable, the displacement hull can make handling in rough seas somewhat challenging compared to more modern designs that cater to a wider range of conditions.

Limited Storage Space: While spacious, the storage options may be less abundant compared to newer models that are designed with maximizing space in mind.
