We have lived on BareFoot Too for 4 years, he is turn key, and ready to go. We set BareFoot Too up for the long distance cruising as well as for the loop with a 15.5 air draft. The installed 1950watts solar keeps both battery banks fully charged early so the larger part of the day we have sun power. We have been asked numerous times if we have a built-in diesel generator. The answer is “no”!! Why would we have another motor that burns up the fuel, needs regular maintenance, and worst of all listening to it run! We like our peace and quite. The solar is quite and maintenance free. We have not spent a penny on fuel to run the solar panels!! Lastly your not “THAT BOAT” in the field/anchorage that everyone else is irritated at. If you are one of “those people” who think they “need” a genny, then our boat is not for you. The next question we get asked is “since we are single screw, are there trusters?” No!! No trusters. We understand the absolute value of proper Seamen Ship. This means we simply and intentionally took the boat out, put it into different situations and learned to operate, control and navigate our beautiful single screw home!! If you feel you “need” Two screws or trusters, then BareFoot Too is not the boat for you. Last main question we have been asked a few times is why is one of the heads a composting head? Why not just have two macerator heads? What happens in the chance event that you use power and your between marinas or on anchor? Power is needed to operate electric heads. Though rare it happens. We have friends that lost power for four days do to unforeseen circumstances. Thankfully one of their heads was a pump head! It is best if one head is either a pump, or dump! We went with dump. No, BareFoot Too does not radar. Never say the need. BareFoot Too does not have marine air. We use a roll around. It works great, uses less power AND you still have air on the hard. For the newbies who don't know what “on the hard” means, it means when you have the boat on dry hard ground for maintenance or storage. So who is this BareFoot Too for? -People like us who were blow-boaters who realized even though we love the perfect sailing days, they were to few and far between and had the motors running all to often.
