Beautiful, one owner 1995 Catalina 36. Owners are very sad to part with their beloved Catalina 36 that they lived aboard and cruised down the eastern seaboard and all through the Bahamas for many years. Now, they're simply aging out of boating and it's time to pass it on to a new family. Great sails & rigging. Freshly detailed, inside & out! The interior teak needs a bit of love in a few places, but this is not a project boat!

This is a unique opportunity to pick up a solid Catalina 36 for under market value.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1995 Catalina 36 is a popular cruising sailboat known for its balance of performance, comfort, and affordability. Here are some of the key pros and cons of this model:

Pros

Spacious Interior: The Catalina 36 offers a roomy cabin with comfortable sleeping accommodations for up to six people, making it ideal for extended cruising or family outings.

Solid Construction: Built with a robust fiberglass hull, the 1995 model is known for its durability and reliability in various sea conditions.

Good Sailing Performance: Equipped with a balanced sail plan and a moderate displacement, it provides steady handling and respectable speed for a cruiser of its size.

Well-Designed Layout: The cockpit and deck are designed for ease of handling, with good visibility and ergonomics for both single-handed and crewed sailing.

Ample Storage: Plenty of storage compartments below deck help keep gear organized for longer trips.

Affordable Maintenance: Parts and upgrades are generally easy to find and maintain, thanks to the boat’s popularity and widespread use.

Cons

Weight: While the moderate displacement contributes to stability, it can also mean the boat is not as fast or nimble as lighter performance-oriented sailboats.

Aging Systems: Being a 1995 model, some onboard systems such as electrical, plumbing, and engine components may require upgrades or ongoing maintenance.

Limited Headroom: Although spacious, the cabin’s headroom may feel a bit restricted for taller individuals.

Outdated Interior Styling: The interior design and materials reflect the mid-90s era, which might not appeal to those looking for a modern aesthetic without renovation.

Keel Depth: The standard keel draft may limit access to shallower cruising grounds, though shoal draft versions are sometimes available.

It’s perfect for couples or small families who want a reliable vessel for weekend getaways, coastal cruising, or extended voyages.
