In Stamford CT lies a 1989 30 ft C&C Mark ll masthead sloop repowered with a universal diesel, good sails, nice interior, and great racer/cruiser, for sale. This boat has a fine club racing record.

C&C built their reputation on comfortable designed and strong builds. The C&C 30 Mark ll is a fine Robert Ball designed mast head sloop with a fin keel and spade rudder easily single or double handed, but with plenty of room for a family to coastal cruise for a week or a month. Perfect for the East Coast cruising grounds, sail the Islands of Buzzards Bay or the great Maine Bays. This boat with accommodations for six can do it all in comfort. In addition, the Mark II is a wonderful club racer.

On deck the spacious cockpit has the wheel all the way aft with the contoured helm seat, engine controls on the pedestal and the main sheet traveler forward of the companion way hatch. Sheets and halyards run aft to the cockpit. With the Harken roller furler, there is no need to go forward under sail.

Below decks the companionway is amidships and leads down to the galley to port. Aft of the galley is a double aft stateroom with built in lockers and storage. Opposite the galley is the nav station with chart table, electronics and the electrical panel. Aft of the nav station is a comfortably big head with a new Jabsco manual head, built in sink and vanity and a “telephone” shower.

The salon is arranged with a dinette table and seating to port (extra berthing) and a bench seat/berth to port for a cozy dining for six. Forward to starboard is a wet gear locker and forward again is the forpeake with traditional vee berths.

This is a very comfortable 30 ft boat with heaps of storage and plenty of fine teak finish work in the grade tradition of the great cruising boats. Built with attention to detail, this C&C 30 Mark II is a solid well found boat that will take you out on the club racing circuit and your family on summer cruises or weekend gunk hole trips along the coastal estuaries. Sugar Magolia has been properly maintained where is counts.

Pros

Performance-Oriented Design: The MARK II features a sleek hull and efficient sail plan, providing responsive handling and good speed potential, especially in moderate to strong winds.

Solid Construction: Built with quality materials and craftsmanship typical of C&C Yachts, ensuring durability and longevity.

Comfortable Interior: Despite its performance focus, the interior layout offers comfortable accommodations for a boat of its size, including a functional galley and ample storage.

Versatile Use: Suitable for both competitive racing and coastal cruising, appealing to a wide range of sailors.

Good Resale Value: Due to its reputation and build quality, the C&C 30 MARK II tends to hold its value well in the used boat market.

Cons

Limited Space: As a 30-foot boat, interior space can feel cramped for extended cruising, especially for larger crews or families.

Maintenance Considerations: Older models may require updates or maintenance to systems such as rigging, engine, and electronics to meet modern standards.

Draft Restrictions: The deeper keel versions may limit access to shallow waters or certain harbors.

Heavier Compared to Modern Designs: While solidly built, the MARK II is heavier than some contemporary 30-foot racers, which can affect light wind performance.

Aging Design: As a design from the late 1980s, some aspects of the layout and fittings may feel dated compared to newer models.
