28' Bristol Channel Cutter 28 '80 "Cosmic Dancer"

The Bristol Channel Cutter is a fiberglass production version of the popular wood vessels by the late Lyle Hess.

This BCC was built in Vancouver, BC and launched in 1980. Her previous owner sailed the boat up and down the west coast before selling her to her current owners in 2007.

During the next 14 years, the current owners have rebuilt and upgraded nearly every system on board with an eye to ease of maintenance and serviceability while at sea.The goal was everyones dream: the long ocean cruise to wherever the winds would take them.

Then Covid struck and health concerns got in the way. So now is your opportunity to make that dream your own. A boat in Bristol condition priced to become yours with all that labor of love already invested. All offers considered.

The condition of the boat and her equipment as follows:

In lieu of refrigeration, the COSMIC DANCER's icebox is made from over 4.5" of foam and will hold the cold for up to a week. Navigation and interior lights are primarily LED to reduce power consumption. Her electrical system is double redundant with oversized wires and clean routing. All hardware attached through the deck coring has been isolated to protect the coring from any future leaks. Rigging terminals are found both top and bottom meaning repairs can be made at sea without need for special swaging device. Ready for final outfitting as a costal cruiser or ocean voyager.

Pros

Solid Build Quality: The Bristol Channel Cutter 28 is renowned for its robust fiberglass hull and heavy-duty construction, making it a durable and reliable vessel.

Seaworthy Design: With a full keel and moderate displacement, it offers excellent stability and handling in rough seas, making it a great choice for offshore cruising.

Traditional Aesthetics: The classic lines and traditional cutter rig give the boat a timeless appeal that many sailors appreciate.

Spacious Interior: Despite its 28-foot length, the interior layout is well thought out, providing comfortable accommodations for extended trips.

Good Storage: Ample storage space is available for gear and provisions, supporting longer voyages.

Cons

Performance: The heavy displacement and full keel design mean the boat is not particularly fast or agile compared to lighter, more modern designs.

Maintenance: Older boats like the 1980 model may require regular upkeep and possible upgrades to systems and fittings.

Limited Deck Space: The traditional design results in narrower decks, which can make moving around on deck less comfortable.

Interior Headroom: While comfortable, headroom may be limited for taller individuals, as is common in many boats of this size and era.

Outdated Equipment: Original rigging and onboard systems may be outdated, necessitating modernization for improved efficiency and safety.
