Of course, this new Sense takes on all the attributes of the Sense range – the salon/cockpit relationship, access to the sea and the exceptional accommodation in every living area, all in a style that has universal appeal – but adding more based on the Beneteau Group knowhow, which is widely recognized in the world of the large luxury yacht in the CNB. As a result, in the forward part of the Sense (55) you will recognize layouts similar to those of a 100’ CNB yacht.

Notably there is a magnificent owner’s cabin, with some benefits belonging to the world of the luxury yacht.

Welcoming visitors on board takes place in equally luxurious surroundings: 2 double VIP cabins entered through large sliding doors, front and side access to the berth and each of the guest cabins has its own head compartment.

Other key features of this yacht: the choice of finishes. The possibility of a leather finish to certain parts of the furnishings, the use of high-gloss varnish, top of the range carpet or the chance to personalize the hull color are all tangible signs of our willingness to offer an exceptional sailing yacht within a budget that remains controllable.

Beneteau Sense 55: BoatTEST Review

Boat Test Review on BoatTest.com

Overview

The Beneteau Sense 55 is the largest model in the Sense line, designed with three primary purposes: luxurious cruising, comfortable club day racing, and serving as an exceptional entertainment platform. Its design emphasizes versatility, with a spacious cockpit that acts as the central gathering area for all activities.

Exterior Design and Cockpit

The Sense 55 features twin steering wheels positioned as far aft as possible, creating an expansive cockpit space. The centerpiece is a large U-shaped settee that comfortably seats five people under sail and up to eight for dining. The table is adjustable with three height settings, allowing it to function as a dining table, cocktail or coffee table, or a lounging platform. To port, a wide bench seat accommodates four adults, and aft are twin helm seats wide enough for two adults each. Overall, the cockpit can hold at least 13 adults under sail. For water sports or anchoring, the helm seats swing up to provide unobstructed access to the teak swim platform, which spans the full width of the stern. This platform includes large storage compartments for swim gear and water toys, a five-step boarding ladder with teak treads and handholds, and deep compartments under the seating for scuba equipment such as air compressors and tanks. The engine room is accessible via a hatch in the platform. Optional features include a dodger fitting the arch over the coach roof and a canopy or bimini for cockpit protection. An optional spoiler arch at the stern supports equipment like wind generators, satellite domes, and davits for a large tender.

Interior Living Spaces

Below deck, the salon and galley benefit from abundant natural light streaming through 15 windows, port lights, and hatches from five directions, illuminating the 133 square foot area with six feet six inches of headroom throughout. To port, a settee seats six, with an optional fold-away seat on the island adding space for two more. The deluxe adjustable table offers multiple height settings for dining or cocktails, while an optional electrically actuated TV rises from the island for entertainment. Adjacent to the companionway is a chart table housing electronic navigation gear and the electrical panel. The galley features approximately 15 linear feet of counter space, including the island, which doubles as a sideboard during gatherings. Designed for efficiency and safety underway, the island provides support when heeling on a starboard tack. The galley accommodates two to three people simultaneously, a rarity on boats of this size. Standard equipment includes a three-burner gas stovetop with oven, a refrigerator with dual-opening doors, and a top-loading freezer. Storage is ample, with every available space utilized for provisions and cookware. The only noted improvement would be higher fiddles on the counters to better secure items underway.

Private Accommodations

The Sense 55 sleeps six guests across three staterooms, each with a private head. The master stateroom is located forward, accessed via a long passageway. It is bright and airy, featuring light-colored fruitwood joinery and ambient lighting. The bed measures 5 feet 7 inches wide at its broadest point and 6 feet 8 inches long. Storage includes his-and-hers hanging lockers with multiple shelves and a shoe bin, as well as a vanity or desk with a stool and additional cubbies. The master head is divided into two compartments: a large stall shower to port and a separate toilet and sink area to starboard. Uniquely, the two guest staterooms feature double beds over 5 feet wide at the head and 6 feet 7 inches long, made possible by pocket doors. Each guest cabin includes a hanging locker with shelves, overhead storage cabinets, large port lights, and nearly identical wet heads forward.

Conclusion

The Beneteau Sense 55 is a well-rounded yacht that successfully integrates the needs of cruising, day racing, and entertaining. Its spacious cockpit, bright and functional interior, and comfortable private accommodations make it adaptable to a variety of sailing lifestyles. With a comprehensive list of options, owners can customize the boat to suit their cruising preferences and geographic requirements, making the Sense 55 a versatile and appealing choice in its class.
