Beneteau Monte Carlo: BoatTEST Review

Boat Test Review on BoatTest.com

Overview

The Monte Carlo 6 by Beneteau is positioned as a bridge between the cruising range and larger yacht offerings. It combines quality craftsmanship with Italian design, delivering a vessel that balances comfort, style, and functionality. This walkthrough highlights the key features and layout of the Monte Carlo 6, showcasing its thoughtful design elements both inside and out.

Exterior Design and Bridge

Boarding the Monte Carlo 6 is facilitated via a hydraulically actuated swim platform that extends 5 feet 5 inches from the transom. This platform, supported by embedded structures, is capable of accommodating a custom Williams jet-powered tender. Access to the aft deck is via starboard-side stairs, where a three-across couch is positioned behind a solid wood table with double pedestals and flip-out end leaves for dining flexibility. The aft deck offers ample space for additional deck chairs and is shaded by an extended flying bridge deck and an extendable awning that reaches out to the swim platform. Stairs lead up to the flying bridge, which features multiple entertainment areas including a large U-shaped sofa measuring 9 feet 8 inches that comfortably seats eight guests around a solid wood table with leaf extensions. Opposite the seating area is a refreshment center equipped with an electric grill, sink, and refrigerator with bottle storage. Forward on the flying bridge is a double-wide helm seat offering panoramic views, though the cushions could benefit from being higher for added comfort. The expansive aft sun pad includes a padded seat back that enhances comfort. The hardtop, constructed from fiberglass rather than the carbon fiber used on larger Monte Carlo yachts, includes a centrally located retractable soft top operable via a helm switch. The bow deck is flat and unobstructed but can be transformed at the push of two buttons, raising two sections to form a chaise lounge area ready for cushions. Subtle pop-up deck lights provide nighttime ambiance, and glass doors open fully to create a seamless flow between interior and exterior spaces.

Interior Living Spaces

The interior galley is situated aft between the salon and the exterior aft deck, split between the main galley to starboard and refrigeration and additional storage to port. Standard Corian countertops are complemented by an optional travertine stone surface. The galley includes a recessed stainless steel sink, a four-burner stove, and a convection microwave below. Storage cabinets above and a wine chiller at the end cap add to the galley’s functionality. Refrigeration is provided by multiple drawers, two dedicated to refrigeration, a third configurable as either a fridge or freezer, and a fourth for storage. The cabinetry combines Alpi wood and soft-touch leather finishes. Transitioning from teak decking to carpeting marks the entry into the salon, which benefits from large windows and seven-foot-high ceilings that create an open and airy atmosphere. Seating includes a loveseat to port and a U-shaped sofa to starboard surrounding a solid wood table with flip-out leaves that convert the space from dining to cocktail mode. Opening side windows allow for cross ventilation. A settee adjacent to the helm provides guests with a comfortable vantage point to share the captain’s view while underway, with storage conveniently located just forward.

Private Accommodations

Access to the private accommodations is via stairs on the port side leading to a softly illuminated foyer featuring a backlit glass highlight in the railing for safe nighttime transition. The full-beam master stateroom is distinguished by large round hull-side windows on both port and starboard sides, continuing the brand’s signature design. High ceilings persist here, and teak decking replaces carpeting around the king-size berth. A sliding mirror above a vessel sink is positioned to port. The master head is split, with a water closet to the left and a shower to the right. Additional amenities include a flat-screen TV mounted at the foot of the bed and a leather and Alpi wood credenza for storage. The starboard side houses more storage, dual seats, and hanging lockers. Forward, the VIP stateroom features an island berth with abundant natural light from hull-side port lights and an overhead skylight integrated between the convertible deck sections at the bow. The headroom here is 6 feet 4 inches. The berth can be converted from a single island to two separate berths using a scissor mechanism. The VIP includes a sizable en suite head with teak decking, travertine counters, and a large walk-in shower. Adjacent to the VIP is a day head with a walk-in shower, which is also accessible from the third stateroom located just aft. This third stateroom offers a queen berth that can be split into twin beds and has a private entrance to the shared head. Practical amenities include a combination washer/dryer under the companionway stairs and optional central vacuum space. For larger families, crew quarters accessed from the transom provide a single berth, head, and sink.

Conclusion

The Monte Carlo 6 exemplifies a harmonious blend of quality workmanship and elegant Italian design, consistent with the standards expected from the Beneteau Group. Its versatile exterior and interior layouts, combined with thoughtful amenities and spacious accommodations, make it a compelling choice for those seeking a yacht that bridges the gap between cruising boats and larger yachts. The vessel’s design and features provide comfort, style, and functionality for both day cruising and extended stays aboard.
