The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 2014 Azimut 40 Flybridge with joystick shaft drive (no pods) offers a compelling blend of style, performance, and handling. Here are some pros and cons to consider:

Pros

Joystick Shaft Drive Control: The joystick system provides intuitive, precise maneuvering, making docking and close-quarters handling much easier than traditional controls.

Shaft Drive Efficiency: Shaft drives generally offer greater propulsion efficiency and reliability compared to pod drives, with potentially lower maintenance costs.

Classic Azimut Styling: The 40 Flybridge features sleek Italian design with a spacious flybridge, offering excellent outdoor entertaining and relaxation space.

Spacious Interior: The layout typically includes comfortable accommodations with well-appointed cabins and a modern galley, ideal for family cruising or overnight stays.

Solid Build Quality: Azimut is known for quality craftsmanship, and the 2014 model maintains high standards in construction and finish.

Good Performance: The shaft drive configuration delivers solid cruising speeds and fuel efficiency, with a smooth and stable ride.

Cons

No Pod Drive: While shaft drives are reliable, they may not offer the same level of maneuverability or fuel efficiency as pod drives in some situations.

Maintenance Access: Shaft drives can sometimes be more complex to service compared to pod drives, with components like shaft seals requiring regular attention.

Flybridge Wind Exposure: While the flybridge is a great outdoor space, it can be exposed to wind and weather, limiting comfort in adverse conditions unless equipped with additional enclosures.

Aging Electronics: Being a 2014 model, some onboard electronics or systems may be outdated or require upgrading to meet modern standards.

Fuel Consumption: While efficient for its class, shaft-driven yachts of this size still consume a significant amount of fuel, which is a consideration for longer trips.
