The Silverton 31 Mid Cabin is the more family-friendly design of the two models offered by this historic boat manufacturer. The salon is very spacious for a boat of this size even with the galley location to starboard. Windows port and starboard plus the curved smoked Lexan entry door provide for a bright galley and salon area. The convertible settee in the salon can seat four adults comfortably, six if necessary. Forward of the salon settee is a space with small bunk beds. There is a pedestal island berth in the master stateroom. The head has a shower enclosure. All interior forward spaces are down two steps from the salon. Attractive light oak woodwork and the use of light color fabrics make for a bright casual interior space.
The cockpit if not large it is very functional and well appointed. There is a good sized fiberglass swim platform, transom gate and transom-mounted fender rack with four color coordinated fenders. Engine access is one large hatch in the cockpit. There are molded fiberglass step pads port & starboard providing access to the side decks. Molded fiberglass steps to port with stainless steel handrails provide access to the fly bridge. Forward on the bridge is the helm console just aft of the Lexan venturi windscreen. The console has a full compliment of engine instrumentation, Single Lever Shifter/Throttle unit, Engine Start/Stop switches, Lighting, bilge pump, and electronics switches and a magnetic compass. There is a pedistal-mounted helm seat and companion seat both with armrest and 360 degrees swivel. An L-shaped bench seat with an ice bucket cabinet is aft and starboard of the helm seat. There is a Bimini top and some weather enclosures. A radar arch is attached aft of and just below the aft fly bridge railing and carries a TV antenna and a rod holder/rigger holder. Access to and from the fly bridge is easy. Small fiberglass steps port and starboard in the cockpit give access to the narrow side decks each having stainless steel hand railings above the cabin windows.
The fore deck has stainless steel railings which extend around the fiberglass bow pulpit with anchor mounted on roller. There a (non functional) electric windlass with foot switch. There is an opening hatch with heavily tinted glass at center of the fore deck. Port and Starboard cabin windows are placed outside salon space.
Overall the exterior finish of the fiberglass, gelcoat and paint finishes appear to be in good shape. The current owner operates a boat service company and has completed several projects and continues to maintain and repair the boat as necessary.
