Strong Community Support: Tollycraft owners often benefit from a dedicated community and resources available for maintenance, parts, and service, making ownership more manageable.
Cons
Age and Maintenance: As a 1978 model, the Tollycraft 48 may require more frequent maintenance and repairs compared to newer vessels. Some systems may be outdated and need upgrading.
Fuel Efficiency: Motor yachts of this size, especially those from the late 70s, may not be the most fuel-efficient options available, leading to higher operational costs during long journeys.
Less Modern Features: While many owners appreciate the classic features and layout, some may find the lack of modern amenities and technology—like advanced navigation systems or energy-efficient appliances—less appealing.
Weight and Handling: The robust construction contributes to the yacht's weight, which can impact handling and maneuverability, particularly in rough seas or tight docking situations.
Limited Speed: With a focus on comfort and stability, the Tollycraft 48 may not match the speed of more performance-oriented vessels, which could be a consideration for some owners.
Insurance and Dockage Costs: Given its size and age, insurance premiums and dockage fees could be higher, potentially impacting the overall cost of ownership. ### Conclusion The 1978 Tollycraft 48 Cockpit Motor Yacht is a fantastic option for those seeking a spacious, well-crafted vessel with timeless appeal.
