"OLD WORLD CHARM"

Classic Restoration Awaits Your Closest Inspection

Since 2001 "Bequia Chief" has experienced a keel up restoration. When purchased in February of 2000 she was considered to be in "rough" shape, needing a lot of TLC. She was taken "home" in 2001, put on the hard, and virtually stripped to her bare bones. Most of her structural wood was replaced and re-glassed. Her imperfections were perfected whether it be mechanical, electrical, structural or cosmetic. Teak decks stripped and made new. Generator added, systems improved. Her interior has been re-fit with the live-aboard in mind, granite countertops, full size refrigeration, ice maker, tiled baths, convection oven, and decorator faucet sets.

Read her specs and you will understand why it took 12 years of hard work to get her ready to go. She has been cruising since March of 2013 and is now in Brunswick, Georgia awaiting the introduction to her future Captain and First Mate. Current owners are looking to make the transition fun and easy and will spend time sharing their extensive knowledge of the boat with you.

Spacious Interior: The interior layout is designed for comfort, with ample living space including a cozy salon, galley, and multiple sleeping quarters, making it suitable for extended voyages.

Sturdy Construction: Known for their durability, the Freedom 45' is built with quality materials and craftsmanship, providing a reliable vessel for both short trips and long adventures.

Good Performance: The combination of the ketch rig and careful design offers good balance and manageable sailing, making it accessible for sailors of varying experience levels.

Classic Aesthetics: The timeless lines and classic design elements provide a beautiful and charming aesthetic, appealing to those who appreciate traditional sailing vessels.

Cons

Maintenance: As with any older vessel, regular maintenance is required to keep the boat in prime condition, which can be time-consuming and costly.

Limited Speed: While the ketch rig offers advantages in certain conditions, the overall speed may not match that of more modern and performance-oriented yachts.

Weight: The construction of older boats like the Freedom 45' can make them heavier, which may impact maneuverability compared to lighter, contemporary designs.

Outdated Systems: Depending on the level of refurbishment and modernization, some systems may not be up-to-date, potentially requiring upgrades to meet current standards.

Chartering Limitations: If you're considering using the boat for chartering purposes, the age and specific design may limit its appeal in more competitive markets.

Complexity of Rigging: The staysail ketch rig, while offering versatility, can also require a steeper learning curve and more complex rigging compared to simpler rigs.
