This Catalina 400 has been carefully maintained as evidenced by the detailed maintenance records, and it shows as a well cared for vessel.
Equipped for cruising, the helmsman benefits from a full compliment of navigational data including a new Garmin plotter, an autopilot, AIS, radar, and compass, plus engine data. In addition to the twin helm layout with forward facing helmsman seating, large wraparound benches with high backs create a safe and spacious cockpit, with the benefit and comfort of a new cushion set. The canvas set includes a high dodger / sprayhood with protective window covers, bimini, and connector. The lines are lead aft with cleats protected under the sprayhood, and easy access to line bags. The large and oversized Lewmar 58 primary winches, and Lewmar 40 secondary winches allow for ease of handling.
On deck, the lifelines are raised high for added protection during passagemaking, and the weatherdecks are wide and uncluttered, with carefully positioned cleats and standing rigging. At the bow, the dedicated anchor locker is large, and access to the windlass is easy. There is also a dedicated anchor washdown.
Both the main and the genoas are in great condition, and have been checked by the owner.
The Westerbeke engine has been proven to be reliable, and the owner has well documented service records. Access to the engine is excellent, and is found both below the companionway steps, and behind the dresser unit in the owner's cabin.
As you step below decks, you are immediately drawn by a large, wide, open saloon and U-shape galley area. The galley includes more than the necessities with an oven and stove top unit, front and top loading fridge / freezer, double sink, water purification unit, and ample storage with above and below counter lockers and drawers.
The saloon is dedicated to entertaining, with a large wraparound saloon table with settee opposite. A large TV with stowable bracket provides for entertainment in conjunction with the upgraded Fusion stereo set. The captain also benefits from a dedicated chart table with systems access and information.
The owner's en-suite cabin spans the full aft width of the boat, allowing for seating on both sides of the double berth. Side, tables, fans and lighting provide additional amenities. A large hanging locker, drawers, and storage provide space for far more than the essentials. Both owners and guests benefit from reverse cycle air conditioning below decks.
The en-suite includes a dedicated separate shower stall. The toilet is electric. A large mirror hangs on the front of the bathroom cabinet. The addition of the watermaker and a new hot water heater provide obvious benefits.
The forward V berth cabin includes additional storage, portlights, fans, and a second en-suite head with shower and composting head.
Overall, this is a well-maintained, clean, proven cruising vessel, with accommodations and equipment usually only found on larger sailboats.
