1987 Wauquiez Centurion 47
S/V Comfort Zone
"Comfort Zone" is one of those rare finds, that you only read about, years after the fact. She is one of 48 Centurion 47's designed by Ed Dubois and produced (1984-1990) by the iconic Wauquiez shipyard in France.
The Centurion 47's was carefully designed for safe and agile navigation in open seas and features a combination of luxury comfort and excellent blue-water sailing performance. Her 3 Stateroom & 2 Head layout with a shoal draft (6 foot) is ideal for all Cruising, Racing or Bluewater excursions alike.
Following an extensive & some could say "marveled" cruising/racing career in and around Florida, "Comfort Zone" has spent the past several years on the hard in St. Petersburg, FL. While on the Hard her knowledgeable owner began re-fitting her for his "End Game" of extensive cruising & Racing wherever they traveled. She underwent an interior re-fit with custom cabinetry and woodwork, finished with very tasteful Corian countertops with well thought-out storage & beautiful custom rounded edging.
A few years prior her Hull was ground down & re-finished, removing close to 4000 lbs. 1/2" was taken off and replaced with 3 layers of XM-18 and epoxy resin, vaccum-bagged in place then finished with Awlgrip. they added 2 coats of stark-white with a navy-blue boot strip. Bottom has Awlgrip Trinidad in black. (Bottom paint is being re-freshed December 2024).
Here we land in January of 2025 and "Comfort Zones" home for the past several years at Salt Creek Marina has been sold along with all of the other Yards in/on Salt Creek. Her Rig has been removed & she was shipped down to Port Charlotte, FL where she will be available for inspection. Details on her Rig & Sails can be found below with more specifics. There she will return to the Hard for her next owner to pick up where her current owner has left off.
Projects that her next owner will need to prepare and account for in their purchase:
Her Teak decks will need to be removed and either replaced or removed and her deck filled/injected and re-finished. Estimates for both options will be provided to prospective buyers or assistance with gathering additional quotes/estimates.
