Beautiful, Handcrafted Sailboat, Built in Sweden
This boat has been well cared for and stored inside in a heated barn for the last 18 years since the current owner purchased her. Improvements have been made to her every year including refurbished teak decks, new engine, new spars and sails, and more.
The Vindo 45 is an exceptional example of Swedish craftsmanship. In his book, "The World's Best Sailboats", Ferenc Maté, stated "If you were to ask most sailors to tell you in one phrase how they'd like their fiberglass boats built, they would tell you without hesitation, "out of wood". Vindö Yachts of Sweden have done just that as far as is humanly possible. They have combined strength and longevity of fiberglass hulls and cockpits and a partial deck with the beauty of magnificently crafted varnished mahogany house and teak housetops and teak decks, to create some of the prettiest yachts in the world today."
With her roller furling mainsail and roller furling jib, this boat can be easily sailed short-handed without having to leave the cockpit. Further, with her full length keel and 42% ballast / displacement ratio she sails well and is as comfortable offshore as simply day sailing around the bay.
"Carpe Diem" will sleep six comfortably in two private cabins and the convertible settee in the main salon.
You enter the boat directly from the cockpit, down only three steps to the cabin sole. The Galley is immediately to starboard with a two basin stainless steel sink, a two burner Force 10 stove and oven and a stainless steel lined icebox. There is also an extendable counter top which provides more room for meal preparation.
Opposite the galley, to port is a private cabin with a good two-person sea berth, a shelf and a hanging locker.
Forward of the galley and the aft cabin is the main salon with a large u-shaped settee to starboard and a straight settee to port. At the aft end of the port settee is a nicely laid out navigation station which also features a stainless steel coal fired cabin heater for those chilly evenings..
Forward of the main salon, on the starboard side is the head with a manual Jabsco salt water head a Corian sink and plenty of storage. Opposite the head on the port side is a hanging locker with shelves.
Forward of the head and hanging locker is the forward cabin featuring a v-berth which includes a "filler" to create a double berth. There is plenty of storage space in the forward cabin in both cubbies and lockers.
With six fixed ports, four opening ports and three opening hatches, there is plenty of light and ventilation throughout the living space.
