The 1985 Tom Colvin 50 Custom sailboat is an exceptional bluewater cruiser designed for long-range self-sufficiency and classic live-aboard comfort. Featuring a robust aft cockpit layout, this gaff rigged traditional schooner offers an expansive split-cabin interior layout and incredible 360-degree visibility from the helm. Built for the open ocean, the vessel balances functional mechanical spaces with impressive range.
Engineered for self-sufficiency, the vessel boasts an incredible 150-gallon fuel capacity split between 75-gallon diesel tanks, alongside a generous 200-gallon fresh water capacity split across four 50-gallon tanks, allowing for months of off-grid exploration.
Built at Island Star Marine, Gulfport, MS in 1985, based on the Thomas Colvin design Schooner.
She is a shoal draft traditional V-bottom Sharpie, moderately light displacement hull, handles easily under power or sail, and is good for small crew operation.
The boat has a full shallow keel with single chine, and clipper bow, with a raking curved counter stern, aft steering with auto pilot, powered with a Yanmar 4JHSE 52 HP engine with a ZF30M Mechanical Clutch.
